I can see that being the case. I used alexeyev instead bc he’s our best prospect and I assume they would be rebuilding. Vrána is a player I’d rather not part with but I agree with what you’re saying.

That Calgary trade is super laughable.

It’s not really “super laughable”. Flames need a #1 starter. Holtby has been inconsistent but still has decent value. Who uses the word super ? This is a public website no your diary

Maybe I should have tried super harder on my grammar. also using two adjective back to back seems ..... like you are trying too hard to make your point more ....relevant? Like the trade is laughable? But it’s super laughable. Just seems like you’re trying too hard. Focusing on grammar also is a given for people who don’t actually ”get it”

I'm not sure the Perreault-Panik swap does anything for the Caps. Gives them an older player on a worse contract that is coming off a season with worse stats (0.44 PPG for Panik vs. ~0.36PPG for Perreault) and was riding an above-average shooting percentage to get the goals. They'd be better off shopping Panik for a low pick or putting him through waivers if they thought he'd clear. Just my two cents.

I think Dube and a 2nd is an amount Calgary would gladly part with for Holtby. It's not a trade the Caps make on its own but Samsonov keeps improving, the Flames have injuries and don't need to dump cap back, and that's how to make room for Dumba, then the Holtby part could make sense.

If Minnesota are rebuilding, I think you've given them a fair offer to get them to think about moving Dumba. They can't move Suter because he grew up in Minnesota and probably takes his NMC there seriously. So if they want to move a defenseman, Dumba's as good as any. And Dumba's a very good defenseman. Maybe this is too obvious for most people to mention, but I like the defensive group you've ended up with, even though it has a pretty big total cap hit.
