No one would trade for that pieces of trash Ceci
Toronto is stuck with him until the end of the years! Dubas is destroying this team with horrible trade and garbage signing. Until one of their top forward is move for a real defenceman that will solidify this blue line toronto will be a good team but not great

Amen, it’s just a 4th for a team that might lose their top D man to retirement

Gudbranson is by far a better defenseman then Ceci. He brings physicality and he is way more stable in is zone.

    ok sure but:
    1) you literally said "years" implying that he was on the hook long term
    2) even if gudbranson is better but by no means is he good, and he's not worth his contract. neither he nor Ceci deserve what they are paid, but the difference is gudbranson's brutal contract still has three years left, while Ceci can easily be dumped to a team who has space this year and is willing to take a chance or take him and a pick as a cap dump. by no means are they stuck with him for even this year

Pffft on what planet? His additional years alone devalue him well below Ceci

What you think of Kapanen trade? I think he’s Toronto’s most expendable asset

    Yeah. I cover that lol.

The package for me is a tad rich, considering what the Leafs moved for Muzzin - and Martinez isn't Muzzin.

I can live with moving Bracco, who is a better looking prospect than either Durzi or Grundstrom. So if we look at this for Martinez at the moment, Bracco and a 2nd for Martinez and a mid rounder seems to fit - if we compare to the Muzzin deal.... and assuming the Leafs had the cap space.

Which brings us to Toffoli. Even in retaining salary, Kappy is a huge over pay imo. Moreover, with Hyman set to return, not sure it's even needed (noting I wouldn't move Kappy). But I get the logic. Tofolli replaces Kappy for the year, and frees up the space.

So, if we look at this package as a whole - Either pull the 2nd rounder altogether or if you include it, the Kings retain salary on Martinez as well.

Which option B would be highly beneficial in the short term for obvious reasons.

He isn't good that is for sure but he isn't trash, he certainly shouldn't be playing against top liners. With that said, he'd be a real good #6.

he for sure is Toronto's most expendable asset, but I don't think theres a rush to trade him or anything. If a deal can be worked with picks/prospect that'd be ideal, but the reality is the salary cap won't allow us to do that. I like the addition of toffolli to bring in another guy who has been through the playoffs, but I think that when giving up a young winger with promise, the hope for Toronto is to bring in at least a youngish RHD that has some term left, and if that means adding a pick and/or prospects, I think thats worth it. In terms of the needs for both teams I like it and if the leafs couldn't find anything better it'd definitely be something to consider, but if the leafs can find a younger d man I think it'd be better long term
