As an Oilers fan I'd much rather give up a pick than Khaira and Lagesson.

If the sens make any deal with Edmonton, Puljujarvi will be involved somehow.

better than Edmonton's. and I agree they need to fix it but trade a RW not a LW. we have a logjam at RW and aren't quite so jammed at LW

LMAO just look at that right side D when you trade Larsson. What happens if one of them get injured? We're gonna rely on Bouchard who's defensive game isn't NHL worthy yet?

I think they move kapanen before Johnsson because they are much deeper at RW than LW. I also think if the leafs, especially if they added a pick/prospect, would be able to find a team willing to give up a better dman than larsson

Because of our lack of LW depth and the deal he is signed to.
Kapanen and Hyman will go first

Just look at it now. Larsson is injured and hasn't played since game 1 while Persson has missed 7-8 games already. That's the 1RD and 2RD from opening night, both missing significant time. Bear and Benning have both proved capable of handling top-4 minutes, and sometime in 2020 Bouchard will be ready too. Both Russell and Jones can play right side when necessary, too.

Trading Larsson is not ideal and I wouldn't do it myself, but RHD is not as big an issue as it was last year.

Sens aren't giving up a 1st for Puljujarvi. It's just not happening.

That said, I think JP to Ottawa makes sense. I think the Sens have a few prospects on the cusp of being regular NHL players who could immediately step in and insert some skill into Edmonton's bottom six.

I think something like Ennis, Chlapik and a 2nd in 2021 for Puljujarvi is fair. They get some bottom six depth now, and a possible option as 3C in the future.

I could also see Puljujarvi being part of a return for a guy like Chris Tierney. Maybe JP + a 3rd?

Yes he does, doesn’t mean he’s good at it. He’s better on 3rd pair LHD and exactly where he should be playing.

Guys, it’s only been 15 games. 1 injury or 1 losing skid can kill that view. If anything, wait it out for 1 year, make Bear prove he’s a reliable 2nd pair dman. Persson and Benning are both 3rd pair dmen. We need to wait until Bouchard proves he’s ready for top 4 minutes before we trade off Larsson.

I agree that it's not a good idea to trade Larsson, and said as much. But you're also ignoring what I said about injuries - the Oilers haven't had a healthy Larsson for a single game this year and RHD wasn't a big problem - until Persson also got injured and Tippett played Russell with Klefbom. When everyone is healthy we have four top-4 RHD - Larsson, Bear, Benning and Persson. Obviously Bouchard isn't ready, I said he'll be ready sometime in 2020.
