Initial Creation Date: Oct. 28, 2019
Published: Oct. 28, 2019

Description
Taylor Hall is not worth a B prospect and a late first. He is worth a lot more. With an extension can haul in Caufield and Romanov. Probably Bowen Byram for Colorado with or without and Zegras from Anaheim.

hall isn't signing an extension just because you traded him. What a ridiculous thought.

And no, he's not worth more. The second he chooses to even test the FA market all that so called value disappears.
He's worth a 1st and a b prospect.
Go look at what Stone was traded for, and he signed an extension!
You NJ fans sound as desperate as Ottawa fans last year.
You won't get anything near what you want for him.

Thank you, I don't see NJD trading him unless they are getting a fair return for a top 5 winger in the game, and if that means he'll have to sign an extension with the team he gets traded to, Shero isn't stupid, he'll wait till Hall and another team agrees upon an extension then get fair value for a top 5 winger in the game

Rofl no. He has 8 months left and probably 0 interest in staying with NJ. If they are not playoff competitors, then they have no choice but to move him. All 3 of those factors drop his value. What are you going to do, hold on to him out of spite. Without those factors he still wouldnt get you Byram

this makes no sense, a team that will trade for him is a team trying to win and therefore wont part ways with one of their "top 5 wingers", if NJD is trading Hall they will be looking to get younger

Top 5 winger? Hes had 3 seasons over 60 points, without those he averages 46 points.

They can still get a really good prospect (Stone for Brannstrom) is what I'm saying, more than a middle 6 guy and a mid pick or smth

A. What he did in like 2012 doesn't affect how good he is rn, and B over the past two seasons he's been by far the best player on his team, a Hart finalist, was on his way to becoming a Hart finalist before getting hurt, he was 5th on his team in scoring, having played almost FORTY less games than anyone ahead of him, an over the past few years he's had a PPG rate of 1.2, nobody else on his team comes close to 1, and 1.2 would have put him 11th in the league last year, he also had a the 24th best ev p/60 last year...

Brannstrom is a 15OA aka mid round 1st that is a 5'9 LD.
I'd hardly call that a great return.
Undersized defensemen who struggle in their own end aren't exactly high in demand.
The guy has played 13 games in the NHL and everyone wants to call him some great player.
Lets give him 2 years and then come back and look at that trade.
I think you'll see as in most trades involving really good players. The team trading them never wins.

Hall's return in trade is going to be close to that of what Mark Stone got. A-prospect and a 2nd. Maybe more if conditions about re-signing are added.

Think NJ will be getting a bit better return, because unlike OTT's GM, NJ GM seems to be more capable in making smart decisions.

So he was the only forward on a bad offensive team. Plus none of that addresses my other point that the entire league knows he's going to get traded, few teams are comfortable enough to add him, not many of them are willing to give up a fortune for a UFA. So you have a limited market who will go after him. If you think youre getting a Byram caliber player, youre going to be disappointed

Stone came with an extension. Also Dorian is not a bad GM, all the blame falls on Melnyk

Not an immediate one. If I recall correctly, they started negotiating about it after the trade, but it was not exactly a sign-and-trade.

Karlsson, Pacioretty, Skinner, and Kane signed after being traded and didn't become UFAs, plus Stone signed one before. That is the main point for any team trying to trade for Taylor Hall, not to just have him as a rental but to sign him long term. Does that guarantee that Hall will sign with any team he gets traded to? No, but you are devaluing Hall a little, in my opinion. I think a 1st and a B-prospect is close but I can only assume their will be conditions like if he resigns their would be a conditional 2nd that becomes a 1st, or if he resigns and the team makes the playoffs more is sent to the Devils.

agree. That's what I'm trying to say but people refuse and say Mark Stone is a lot better anyways.

As a Devils fan I just hope they trade him before he gets hurt again. Also, the number of contending teams that can afford to extend him are limited. And the number of teams that Hall will want to sign with long term are gonna be even fewer. Also, the league knows that Shero will never allow for the eventuality that Hall will leave NJ as a UFA if they don't trade him. All of these factors will limit Hall's trade value.
