Honestly you won't get him any cheaper than that.

That doesn't matter if he leaves as UFA. Maybe there's a GM out there okay with giving up that much in assets and then Hall leaving as a UFA...don't think Dubas is that guy tho.

Depends on his performance during the rest of the season. I could see someone taking him for a 2nd with retention.

Probably because the trade would never happen in the first place. Leafs aren't even set up to possibly extend him, why would be tossing one of their best hopes at a RHD solution away for a 1 year rental?

VGK took the same risk with Stone, although they prepared a contract.

Interesting idea - might be a bit of a steep price for the Leafs but they'd certainly look better heading into the playoffs. If Hall was healthy they could go for a long run.....

What do you think Leafs defensive pairs look like next year if Severson is in the mix on RD? Which of the free agent D-men do they keep?

Why do the Leafs even want Hall tho? Their offence hardly needs the help

Even so, who the heck is auctioned for pennies to fit Hall into the cap? Our entire 3rd line++?

After a move like this, I'd construct lines like these

Hall-Matthews-Nylander
Mikheyev-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Kerfoot-Moore
Gauthier-Shore-Spezza

It's not like your team would get significantly worse after this trade. That first line could be the best line in the entire league.

Note that Hall is most likely going to be rental strengthening. He won't be affecting your team's cap after the season. But you'd still have a solid TOP4 D in Severson in the team for years to come. And if Hall helps TOR to reach the cup, I think that move becomes easily worth it.
