i think they should really try to trade boychuk
if it costs a prospect and a second they should still do it
because then they could sign or trade for a much needed forward who is worth more than that prospect and second

If we gave up our first to unload Boychuk, this cap situation is actually amazing. All of our solid core players are locked down except for Beauvillier and Pelech, which won't be too expensive (could probably be done with the saved salary from Boychuk + maybe a trade or too), but I don't see why we would waste the money buying out Clutterbuck paying him for the next four years. We could easily package him into a trade, maybe retaining some salary and still end up with more cap space and only have to pay him for another two years.

You’re more optimistic than me, I don’t think anyone will want a 4th line player @3.5 AAV for two years.

Regarding pelech and beau contracts, if pelech keeps playing like he has , he will get at least 5 mil. If beau puts up 20 g 50 pts, he will command 5 mill as well.

I know. I've been watching Beau and I've been very excited (made a post about him before), and he'll either get 3x2 or if we wants a longterm deal he will get 6x6. Pelech is great but Lou is still our GM and he has a negotiating brass that most other GM's don't have, which makes me think Pelech will either get a cheap bridge similar to Beau, or 4.25-4.5x6.

Have you seen komarovs deal? Lol - pelech had the 7th best defensive impact among defenseman with tough usage last season. I could see his AAV being 4.5, only for 4 years though. I can see pelech signing for 4 or 7 years. He won’t get a bridge deal because he can just take his qualifying offer (2.5 mill) and walk right to UFA at 27.
