Why?

Their center depth is already insane.
And why would they trade Ceci if they basically have no one to replace him?

Think that is fair for the Isles. They need some forwards right now too with all the injuries.

I think you have to put at least a 2nd to make Mtl consider absorbing Baertschi's salary

Isnt Baertschi in the ahl because of injury issues? You'd have to pay to get rid of him

Lehkonen just had his best season of his career last year.... Im not sure where you're getting that he needs a change of scenery from?

The thing about Lehkonen that non Habs fans don't get to see, that we do, is that Lehkonen even when he isn't scoring points, he's putting in the work and creating chances by his work ethic. His engine never stops. 82/82 games he's putting in the effort. Sometimes hits the post on an empty net but man he'll work his tail to get a second chance.

That's why people don't understand why Habs fans value Lehkonen more than his point totals show. When he's scoring, he's a very decent top 9, when he isn't he's an elite 4th liner. (If there is such a thing).

The only thing anyone can criticize about him is his inability to, no pun intended, "finish" at times. Last season he scored like 11 goals. He should have had 31 with the chances he blew. Nonetheless, he put himself in those opportunities to capitalize himself so its hard to punish him for it.

You're joking? with that 1mil retention already from the trade lets compare.. AL: (232-42-42-84) $2.4M. SB: (285 - 66-70-136) $2.6M Statistically they're quite similar and with the retention, they're basically the same player. The third is a gift.

Not entirely true. Due to his injury history from last season he was sent down 'cause the management saw "hesitation" in his game and wanted to get him back on form. Think of it as a confidence stint rather than a conditioning stint. That being said, injuries have been an issue with him but I feel the 3rd is more than fair.

My bad. Misread. But, still think Montreal won't do this, Lehkonen has his best season last year, is responsible in every zone and his on a good pace.

I agree the trade doesn't make sense for MTL. Changes of scenery only work when players are failing to meet expectations. Lehkonen is right where he should be. Maybe even trending up.
