All of these articles all summer about how the Avs acquired depth just in case this very thing happened (Landy/Rants injuries) and now suddenly the most patient GM in the league is going to hair-trigger good young players for mediocre bits and pieces. Sorry Montreal, if you want a LHD from us, talk to us about Cole in the next offseason. I think we're keeping Z for awhile. Also, I really don't think you need Jost anyways. You have Poehling and Suzuki.

I agree with you. But I think Tatar with RS could interest Avs.

I don't know how long zads will be staying in colorado. I think if there is a trade he will be a piece of it. You have to think with girard and byram going to be the top 2 on the left side for years to come zads will be playing 3rd pairings minutes at most in another year. He is already losing his spot to graves so far this year and cole has been solid so far, plus he will be a good role model for byram to work with next year.

I don't follow that much the Avs but, it appears to me that you could use Tatar as a 2nd LW

Landy - Mck - Rantanen
Tatar - Kadri - Bura
Donskoi - Jost - Compher

This looks to me like a solid top9 and imo Tatar's cost is pick and prospect

So Tatar for Zad one on one... I feel that Tatar Top6 60pts guy as more value than Zad who falls 3 pairing in Colorado without counting Byram coming IN next season

RETAINED SALARY, that's what you meant! Sorry it took me a second. Tatar would be great depth absolutely. Frankie could probably use some Slavic company as well. I am not sure if we'll require RS or find as much value in it since our cap isn't hurting that bad quite yet. I think a pick and a prospect is a fair return. If we're picking up Tatar, maybe I'd want him for 30-35 games this year. Not too soon but not right at the TDL. I personally would like to see how far this depth can take us. I am not the biggest fan for giving up futures YET. Next year I'd be very willing to really start going all out. I just don't think it's overly necessary right now.

That is fair and it's definitely crossed my mind. At this point, admittedly, I am attached to him. I would want to make sure that the level physicality he brings would be replaced upon his departure. He would do well on MTL too.

That's not bad. I think I'd want one more season of Zad. That physical presence is awesome. He would do well on MTL too.

I agree, i he definitely brings physicality that no one else can match for us, but he seems to only be bringing that once every 3 games. I like him a lot but when he isn't physical he's just out there making bad passed and taking bad penalties. I don't know what he needs to do to get some consistency.

lol relax man. You a real fan or not? You don't move for a LHD right now as Romanov, Leskinen, Norlinder, Fairbrother, Struble are all in the reserve list. At least one of them will pan out. Romanov, Norlinder are both playing against men already and Leskinen is adapting to american ice. 2020 draft is the best draft since a while and it's in montreal. Go for those picks instead.

Mtl will not make the playoffs anyway, quit dreaming

ou are giving up this season already... that's mean missing playoff for third year in a row... Julien would be fired!
I love the youth LHD prospect MTL has but even next year they would just ajust their game to this next level...
I am ready to give up on Mete+Tatar to get a TOP LHD if we can... no time to waste as we all know what is the problem... let's fix it!

I'd rather miss the playoff 3 times in a row to make it 10 times in a row next then continue patching holes.
You are talking about giving for a top LHD? Do this instead of trying to acquire Zadorov. Zad is good, but he's definitively not what you are refering to when you are talking about the problem, he will not be the key to a playoff spot

He's good. But not what habs need to "fix the problem". To be honest, i don't think habs should move right now. If they do, it's to acquire draft pick for the upcoming draft in Mtl.
Tampa, Boston, Toronto, Florida are better than Montreal and Buffalo are playing well right now.
Washington, Carolina, NYI and Pittsburgh (when healthy) are better than Montreal.
Also, Columbus and Philadelphia are not bad.
So why fight to maybe do the playoff? Young guys are looking great for once.
I'd take my chances with Krug next summer

Alot of head would roll-off if they missed it for a third time in a row... trust me
