So making this change before Dermott's first game back is premature. On the other hand, who cares?

Haha

If Dermott plays well I think this could work

I have heard some leafs fans think that both Sandin and Lili will get the call up after the TDL like Dermott did last year or two years ago

If the leafs play Sandin/Lili less than 9 games this year their contracts slide and we can get another full year with them on their ELCs on the back end

Dont see the Leafs burning a year off of Sandin's deal.
Holl has played decently enough to warrant be considered 5th/6th D man

Playing Dermott that high up right away (especially with no training camp) is a mistake.
Need to ease him in and play him that high later on in the season.

This team wants to win soon. Particularly on Rielly's and Andersen's current contracts. While the sliding is true, if they're ready and better than who is on the Leafs I can't see them holding them back for that reason.

Look at it this way: the Leafs have spent a second two of the last three years to upgrade their 4c pre playoffs. No one particularly minded as they were close to contending and that's a reasonable cost.

Would you consider losing a year of their elc's more valuable than a second? I wouldn't...

That's true but Sandin didnt look amazing in the games he played, maybe that's due to the minutes played but he shouldn't be playing than 12 minutes anyway hence why hes in the Marlies where he can play 20+ minutes a night.

Holl is easily the best bottom pair guy we have.
And he played good last night.
