I think the Canucks would rather have Eriksson than Seabrook.

As a mtl pov, i'd argue for the second 2nd pick. Smiith brings down the value a bit. But i think it's a good place to start talking

There are actually a lot of reasons. Zero of which have to do with his play on the ice. A.) he's a UFA B.) The Hawks are tight up against the cap next year and don't have Dylan Strome or a #1G signed. It'll be near impossible for the Hawks to offer him anything close to value. C.) The realistic view point is this team probably won't win the Stanley cup. I know shocker to other fans. So if you can't keep him...make sure you get something for him D.) The Hawks have Boqvist and Beaudin developing in Rockford right now, plus Ian Mitchell playing at Denver University. It's widely believed that one of those three...likely Boqvist will take his place on the PP...and they're all clearly ELC costs. E.) This might just be me, but there should be 16 teams at least looking to see what he'll cost @ the TDL. $600k (Hawks eat half) and literally every single team in the NHL can afford his services. Zero teams will need to alter their long term plans if they want a rental...OR...if you have the cap going into the future...you can sign him up after a half year try out.

Nice breakdown, simply put he is our biggest asset we can dangle. Like most Hawk fans, I think we need a shakeup and he is the easiest to move.

I agree hence Caggs and a 2nd rounder which I feel is very fair.

Canucks would only take back Seabrook if Boqvist/Dach was attached.

In other words, no.

I think it really boils down to whether the Hawks can afford his next salary demand. Gustafsson will be an unrestricted free agent next season. If he has another
60 point season his value shall significantly go up, perhaps higher than what Chicago is willing to pay.

I think Gustafsson will be moved at the trading deadline. Bowman is not going to give him away. A deal will get done if a team offers a 1st. There are factors for this to happen. If Chicago is out of playoffs, he will be moved (no brainer). If the Hawks are chasing a playoff spot, there may be reluctance, but if Boqvist is ready for NHL, then moving Gustafsson won’t be problematic.

I think Gustafsson is a above average offensive defenceman. I think he has excellent hockey sense, reads the ice well. He has good shot and skilled playmaker. He has lapses in his own end. He is the lone defenceman on the Hawk’s 1st unit pp. His value will increase as Hawks power play catches fire.
