BUF should jump on this in a heartbeat, it'll take at least a first to move Okposo, then all it takes for Zucker AND Donato is Mittlestadt...

Sabres don't though. Way too high of a price to pay.

Buffalo decline.

Donato is not of high value right now, and I would not change Mittelstadt to Zucker, he has shown recent progress and began to gain points, maybe he needs stronger link partners and a bit more time on ice. Perhaps if you replaced Donato with Fiala, I would have thought of such a proposal, but not this.

Minnesota declines. okposo is a nothing and should take more than a first to get rid of that contract. mitts doesnt = zucker and donato even if donato has no value right now.

You're high of you think Zucker has more value than mitts

how? mitts a recent first rounder will be 21 this year. is getting: 11:43 TOI this year. hes lucked into 7 points since the team is scoring at a ridiculous clip right now. lower face off percentage. zucker is a sure thing. you know what he is. you dont know what mitts will be.

"Lucked into" seems like a very cheap way to say that he has points this year. He's playing very well and is progressing every game. Zucker is doing the opposite. Faceoffs take time to learn. It's nothing but up for Casey and nothing but down for Zucker

Lol what? Mitts plays in the fourth link and receives the least time on ice, while he managed to score 7 points in 13 games. He has rather mediocre partners in the link, he is the center and still young, he can’t cost less than Zucker, who so far has had one good flash season, and then it is not clear.

zucker has scored 20+ in 4 of the last 5 years. and plays on a crappy wild team. Mitts on the 4th line doesnt help his progression. Mitts has shown me literally nothing that screams 1st/2nd line center in the nhl yet.

Well, actually, no, he is now playing in the fourth link, our third line is the Girgensons - Larsson - Okposo, at least for now.

3 goals and 4 assists in 13 games on a team thats 5th in goals for right now. how much is his doing and how much is his game being elevated through players around him. He has 3 goals on 17 shots. thats almost 18% shooting when his career so far has been between 10 and 11. maybe he is progressing his shot. or maybe he got lucky on a goal or two and had a couple secondary assists and his stats are inflated right now.

20+ is generally nothing for a player who is positioned for top 6. I still do not understand Zucker player at 40 points per season or 60+, as he had one really strong season, and these are two big differences. I see Mitts progress, but he usually plays with the invisible Vesey, the terrible Rodrigues this season and the inconsistent Sheary. I would not change Mitts for now, if this is not a serious overpayment.

Yeah, but link Mitts usually comes out last and plays the least, it is nevertheless closer to the fourth link.

Mitts was a rookie last year. What are you actually even talking about; the Sabres arn't trading Mitts for Zucker and it's not even close lol.

Not like he's playing with Jack eichel or Jeff Skinner. He's playing with sheary and vesey/erod who have been anchors.

20+ is still a guy who can put the puck in the net. zucker shot 14.9% his career high the year he put up 60+ last year he shot an almost career low 9.8 he also shot a good 50+ more than any of the years prior to his 60 point year. last year if he hits at his career average he hits 26 goals. if he hits at 14.9% again he scores 30 again. it all depends on how accurate he is shooting. right now it looks like he is getting half the shot attempts he was over the last 2 years.

I’m not saying that Zucker is a bad player, of course he will strengthen our top 6, because Sobotka, and Olofsson play there, who is not very good in ES, but I would not want to trade Mitts, at least for now.

It's my understanding that right after he got the GM job, and after speaking with the captain, Guerin called Zucker and told him that unlike his predecessor, he wants him around long-term. I think Zucker is now happy, or happier with the situation in Minny, and the Wild are not particularly looking to move him. Only a full scale rebuild would probably do it, but I honestly don't see Craig Leopold signing off on that right now.

But their Larsson line still has 4th line responsibilities even though their minutes are elevated

The other 2 centers Eichel, a franchise player ' Johansson who has been playing exceptionally well since leaving NJ. Why mess with a winning formula. Id love to see Mitts in between Skinner and Johansson, but then Sheary-Vesey-Sobotka would be a complete liability. Mitts has developed a great defensive game and has improved upon his breakout play because of the experience hes getting, in the future hes going to be better off for it. Not trading a promising young player with NHL experience, whos still developing well, for an over rated player at the pinnacle of his career. Thats very obviously not a smart idea

Just bc you'd rather keep him doesn't mean MIN wants him, i should have probably phrased that MIN shouldn't do this deal bc I have 0 clue how most BUF fans value their players lol
