In my opinion I don’t see why coyotes don’t do this but then again why would the devils do this

Yotes do this to get a young RHD that's signed long-term (aside of Söderström they don't have any in the organisation). NJ does this to get a solid goalie and to get rid of schneider.

But antti has had bad injury issues and I wouldn’t necessarily call him an upgrade

the devils can buy schneider out after the year for a 2 million dollar cap hit for the next 4 years if that's their main goal. not trading 2 valubale assets on good contracts along with picks.

Well statistically and contractually I'd call him a clear upgrade from Schneider. Also both of them have injury history. Due to ARI re-signing Kuemper long-term, Raanta should become expendable for them.

They can, but they won't receive a good goalie in exchange.
