Yeah the Hawks would love those trades. But no team will trade for that awful, buyout proof, contract which is aging terrible. For a contract like that you'll have to give up a lot, like a lottery pick and a middle 6 forward / 2nd pairing D-man / decent prospect or a 2nd round pick. Nobody wants Seabrook. His contract is way worse than Marleau so you'll have to give up more value than the Leafs did

Seabrook holds all the cards with a NMC. It will also be a problem come expansion draft time. He has stated he does not want to be traded. And be chance he accepts a teade you will pay dearly for a team to take 6.88 million for 5 years, as buyout would be for 10 years. Marleau had 1 year left and it cost Toronto a 1st, expect to pay at least double if not more.

No way Seabrook waives his NMC for Ottawa, They'd be the very last team he'd ever waive for. If your going to trade Seabs at least trade him to a team he'd realistically waive for.

After yesterday...I don't honestly know if that's true anymore. He went on the record last being very upset he's a healthy scratch and said

"I don't think I need rest. I think I feel great. I'm 34. You guys seem to want to write articles about my age and my speed. I feel like I still got a lot to offer in this league and still be a good player for somebody."

Key word...somebody. He definitely still controls his own destiny and maybe it still won't be OTT, but it opens possibilities.

Seabrook has no value. You would have to add multiple high picks to get rid of him and probably retain some $

Tough pill to swallow. GM's still haven't learned and they continue to dish out stupid long term deals because of the player did 5-6 years ago.
