We have a problem

Created by: TMG
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 30, 2019
Published: Oct. 30, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The issues the lightning have been able to mask the past couple of seasons by outscoring/outwinning these problems are on full display now. Everytime I watch this team now I hate to think it but i'm serioiusly beginning to question whether this cast will ever be able to deliver a championship despite the undeniable talent. At this rate the bolts would be lucky to be swept in the first round again, as the way they have been playing they don't deserve to even make the playoffs at all

What I have been saying since last year .
It obvious they a regular season team and their talent is over rated .. my niece cam have 30 pts .. more than Gourde .. playing with Kuch amd Point .. shrimps are just over paid role players

I DARE THE DISNEYLANDERS TO DEFEND THE SHRIMPS .. they KILLING whole team and Cooper needs to go by Xmas .. If not write off the season and fans DONT show up at Amalie in orde to force change ..

See you nailed it .. when asked to play defense .. Tampa forwards stink .. the internal Tampa culture last 5 years has rewarded internal players who have inflated point totals and regular season attendence for the entertainment value .. period. How to fix this?.. fire leadership and flush half the team .. it that bad

So why are you stealing the exact same narrative Leaf fans have been saying for few years.?happy

This team stinks now because it got away from what it use to do well.
They brought in player like Maroon to be their "goon" and beef up players who are on the ice for maybe 15 minutes a night if not less. And don't really fit the team design. Little more than square pegs for round holes. While keeping 5 foot nothing wingers in their top 6. What a waste and that was never going to fix the problem.

This team needed to add 6 foot wingers with speed and skill to round it out. Players capable of battling, hitting, not necessarily dropping gloves.
It doesn't help that your biggest players get their ass kicked on the ice by Midget Matt Calvert. But thinking this team could ever "change it's identity" and still win was a total misconception.
They needed to add size while staying true to what they are. They didn't do that. It shows.

Tampa should have tried to get more players like JT Miller, not trade him... At the time I thought Vancouver totally over paid with a 1st and 3rd round pick (as well as a serviceable backup Goalie that's able to be stashed in the AHL). Vancouver at this point looks like they knew what they were doing. Still kind of grabs my goat though that the timing didn't work out for Vancouver to offer that package for JT Miller to NYR before NYR traded him to Tampa.

I have absolutely no complaints with David Quinn or even Alain Vigneault mostly, but I loved watching the Rangers execute Tortorella's style of play. Rangers forecheck was like a seek and destroy mission. But of course Larry Brooks and all his self appointed cronies running the NY Rangers media (Whom never played the game and know very little about hockey) made life miserable for Torts.

Ron Duguay being run out of town because he's cool and actually played the game, is Brooks' latest victim. Other than Dave Maloney (who apologises whenever critical) and Steve Valiquette (a former goalie who talks mostly about the analytics of the game and very little of his playing career) are the only ones who've ever played the game on any level in the NYR broadcast and media worth listening to. Makes me sick that Dan Boyle after he played his final NHL game was the last one to call Larry Brooks out on what a horrible human being he actually is... And he was called a crazy man on an insane tangent by all of Brooks' cronies. Like any of them know as much about hockey as Dan Boyle! Makes me sick - thanks for listening.

Interesting monologue .. lol .. also if it helps you at all .. I grew up with Quinny and he good folk .. and as long as Ranger front office doesnt ruin him .. he will do fine .. he gave Rangers a tongue lashing against Bruins during 2nd period time out that was so reminiscient of college programs .. wish balless Cooper would do that

As some have said, changing the "system" doesn't work with the current lineup, but a fast and skilled attack even with some smaller players can be successful. There is nothing wrong with Gourde, Johnson, Palat or Killorn, but they are now being asked to play a style that doesn't necessarily work well for them. However, very few players on Tamps seem to care at all right now, outside of 4 or 5 guys. The PK and PP are atrocious, guys look either disinterested or lost out there, and a couple high profile players(ahem Kucherov especially) look like they'd rather be doing anything else. It looks more and more like maybe the players have tuned out Cooper, and if they don't click soon then a coaching change needs to happen if this season is to be saved.

Also, the PK has suffered because 2 of the better PK players from last year are gone in Stralman and Girardi. Maybe keeping Miller and Stralman instead of Gourde, Coburn and Paquette was the better plan, but hindsight is 20/20.
