I see what you are doing here and I think it's a smart move to gather assets, but I dont think Melnyk is gonna take on those deals. He's at come rubbin nickels together.
The Brooklyn Nets did this in the NBA, willing to take on bad contracts along with 1st rounder and after a few years they have become a playoff team

But with Seabs specifically. He can hold onto him for 2 years. Then retain half his cap ( in a future trade) and avoid paying Seab's signing bonuses in year 3 and 4. Melnyk would do that trade because he saves millions (I believe $4.25M) with a similar cap hit...if done intelligently.

I agree he is counting pennies, but he saves loads of cash vs cap hit in the first year of having these deals. He can fake show that he is trying his best to do a proper rebuild wihtout paying any real cash. His finances dont allow him to plan long term (2 years hahaha) so if he does these deals he would be in good shape for 2020-21.

Those trades are very smart Gm wise. Use the cap space as an asset to jumpstart the rebuild. I love those types of trade!

Those are smart trades!

The problem is that Melnyk is too poor for those kind of trades! If Melnyk wasn't that cheap, sens would not be in rebuild cauz they'd still have EK65, Stone, maybe Duchene

Would be great for the Sens to take on bad contracts with a 1st round pick. Especially since they got so much cap space and need to reach the cap floor next year. But honestly, you should get a lottery pick along with a decent prospect / middle 6 forward / 2nd pairing d-man or a 2nd round pick for taking that terrible Seabrook contract. He got 4 years left after this season while the contract is buyout proof and it's aging really bad.

If Hawks took Ryan, NO WAY they give a 1st, especially when it could be lottery protected.
But overall, is an excellent plan.
Well done..-~
