Not many multi player trades work well for both teams. This post is pretty good.

Ill keep saying it, leafs fans made fun of pens for moving from speed and skill to tough and slow and now after one game against Tom Wilson are doing the same thing. It was never a good idea then, it isnt now. However I hope you guys do it so i can continue to laugh at the leafs

oh it works. You can tell looking at the penguins now it works. Players like Tanev have had a huge impact on the team.
But lets be clear about it. They have to have the ability to actually play hockey.

CBJ turns this trade down. It doesn't do anything for them, it only makes TOR better. One sided trades are never accepted.
CBJ doesn't need more average talent and they aren't giving up difference making players for it.

Actually I think the leafs should turn this down. This works well for CBJ who are at least retooling if not rebuilding this season. Guys like Jenner and Savard are expendable. Kapanin and Johnson are great rebuild/retool assets. The thing is you need guys that can provide more than just toughness. Tanev is speedy, relentless on the forecheck, and draws a lot of penalties. Whereas Reaves was big and slow and one dimensional (just hit and thats all) so I think you have to find those specific tough players that are multi dimensional. Is that Anderson, Jenner, and Savard? Im not sure, if they are then sure it could work if not then it hurts the leafs in my opinion

"first line player, top 4 dman, 26 year old perfect 3rd line center and assistant captain with jackets" for " torontos entire 3rd line, 4th liner, and a meh prospect." the problem is i cant even find a comparable player for anderson. leafs dont have a 2 way forward that can shoot, pass, hit, has speed, has size and uses it. this just doesnt get done. columbus isnt looking to move their best players for depth pieces. would be like the leafs trading matthews for 3 3rd liners and a couple prospects.

Well six good regulars....and a seventh in Timashov. That's kinda of blockbuster in todays cap driven NHL. Sure would change the face of both teams. Columbus gets 4 different forwards.
Seth Jones? Leafs should be happy with "baby steps". I kinda like the deal because of the almost the equal number of players traded, their playing value and cap value is about the same. And from the Leafs view they do that needed RHD.

I agree, I was just joking that's why I added the lol at the end. But in all seriousness Seth Jones is my favorite player and would love to see him donning a maple leafs jersey?

I suppose we will just have to be happy settling for Popeye Jones wearing a Toronto jersey.
