The value is there. But I only do this if its a trade and sign. We definitely cant justify a rental at that cost.

I'm assuming there is an implied extension?

What about something more along the lines of; 2020 first+Larsson+Terry? That'd be more than Ottawa got for Stone, who also got an extension.

Let's say Anaheim balked at Kase for Faulk (Some reported this, others reported that Faulk couldn't reach an extension). Faulk's value was a late 1st (Bokk)+NHL dman. If you put it all into draft pick values, the value you're currently sending would equal: 3 x 1st (Kase, Larsson, and another 1st)+NHL dman+3/4th (Fringy prospect Jones). That's a lot.

If Hall would seriously consider signing here, why not wait until the summer and sign him then? It's not like we desperately need him this season. We're not a Taylor Hall away from competing so this would be a huge haul to give up for someone we can conceivably just sign outright in eight months. Personally I wouldn't go after him in either scenario. He's going to get a huge contract and that's fraught with peril considering that contract is going to encompass his mid-30s. Pass. We need to worry about investing in the middle of ice, not on the wings.
