if Poehling is so good why isnt he up right now playing 3c? and sure in a vacuum you can say its fair value. But you cant discount that the yotes are trying to compete, you cant discount they dont have a ld replacement for chychrun now or in the future, you cant discount the kid is only 21 years old signed for 6 more years. you dont think hes going to outgrow that contract anytime soon? I mean cmon. its not just looking at player stats vs player stats here.
What silly thing to point out. Why isn't any top 50 prospect that isn't already in the NHL not playing in the NHL? Guess fellow 2017 draftees Morgan Frost, Owen Tippett, Cal foote, Klim Kostin are all not that good? Bunch of bums?
The fact of the matter is Habs have too many centers as is for him to play any significant minutes. Danault, Domi, Kotkaniemi, Suzuki and well 4th line isn't a good position to put Poehling is so there is no point in playing him there. Might as well give him 20 mins a game in the AHL.
The problem with Armchair GM's are that there are so many factors you have to take into consideration and that we have to essentially work on the idea as if it were "in a vacuum". Take away standings, take away player preferences, etc. Is the value of my side equal to value of your side, (fair in a vacuum)
So you're not wrong, they do like and want to keep Chychrun but that doesn't mean that the offer above is bad as you are trying to point out. There is such thing as a fair value offer but you still decline.
People gotta stop freaking out with trade offers on this site. Is the value on one side equal to the value on the other side. Yes or no and why?
