I was talking to @oneX and @Trickster about this and wanted to see if it would work. It won't happen this was just for fun.

Mayfield would net Johnsson or Kappy, not Hyman

It doesn't have to be Mayfield just used him as an example. Could be Greg pattern or anybody for that matter who has a cheap cap hit.

Okay. Are we just supposed to guess that?

In typical Dubas fashion, he is holding off on extending his players because he "wants to see how the season plays out". That just means the price keeps going up, especially for guys like Gauthier, who I would say has improved a lot since last season, Timashov, but especially Mikheyev. So far, Dubas' incompetence running this club and negotiating these contracts has cost this Leaf's team at least $4 million per season until the summer of 2025.

I'd agree that you are correct in your order of importance to the Leafs BUT I would make the argument, one for one, Mayfield alone is not worth it for any of those top-6 Leaf wingers.

Mayfield is 3rd pair D IMO, and pairing Liljergen with Sandin is probably a bad idea.
Veteran D with each is the way to go.

I think adding Kreider puts too tight on cap again and we need to consider paying Moore, who I love, and what about the goalie situation??

Remove Kreider and the 1st from the Rangers trade.
Might need to add minor asset to Islanders trade OR sign DeMelo to a deal like Mayfield's.

Okay cool. Next time i’ll Assume that your trades are for completely random players, that you took like, 2 minutes to throw it together, and that you probably mean something other than what you post.

Yeah I figured it would not work. I like Kreider but the reality is the Leafs can just barely make a trade for Georgiev/DeAngelo work plus NYR can't take on more salary either.

I also think signing DeAngelo to 2 years is key, and then sign him to long term extension.
3 years takes him straight to UFA.

Got it, it was a bad idea that I had a while ago and wanted to see if the math worked also at the time I wasn't trading for DeAngelo, Georgiev or Mayfield but things change no biggie.
