Interesting trade

I wouldn't give up on Kulak and Byron yet. If Kulak finds his rhythm he's a bargain, and I doubt a 29 y/o UFA like Dillon will sign a bargain contract.

Karlsson provides 0 offense, he might only be there because of his cap hit. Byron's contract isnt a bargain, but I'm not scared yet that this will be a bad contract. He needs to find his rhythm like Kulak.

Yeah so the way I saw it is:
Karlsson is in there for cap space reasons. All likelihood he gets a 4-5 games look & gets swapped with Poehling.
Byron has become expandable with the kids coming up, there's just no room moving forward for him unless you want to hold back the Poehling, Evans, Caufield, Ylonen, etc.

And the reasoning is to have Dillon sign a 4 (or probably 5) years extension. Something around 5 years, 20M that is frontloaded (easier to trade later on if need be.)

Dont know why sharks do this. Kulak is a nothing piece, Byron is ok but not really much better than Melker considering neither provide offense that the sharks need, and the prospect is alright but nothing all that special really.

Think if we move Dillon one piece needs to be a second/third round pick coming back.
