Yam is scoring like crazy in th AHL right now. Most people expect him to get a call up THIS season...
Even though his production is likely to warrant a call-up, I think Holland will double down on what he said before the season and that none of the key rookies Edmonton has in Bakersfield will see NHL icetime until like the end of the season provided Edmonton's been eliminated from the playoffs. Yamamoto hasn't had a chance to really excel since he got hurt in the WJCs back in 2017, as he's battled a series of injuries since. I think they'll leave him alone to really rip the AHL up this season before having a legitimate chance to make the NHL next season.
Eakin is an egregious overpayment, and I'm not convinced with Galchenyuk either. I'd rather a one-year prove-it deal strictly because of what RNH is likely to command on his next deal ($8-9M range) so if it doesn't work, that money is still at least available. Sparks is an unnecessary asset due to Starrett looking to be the next rookie goalie the Oilers give a legitimate chance in the NHL. Khudobin likewise, would only be necessary if Starrett really stumbled this season or out of the gate next year.
Leafs' trade is fine, but I don't think it would require a 3rd Round Pick. Also, that pick is reserved for the Flames should Neal hit 20 goals this season.
Don't resign Mantha either, his eye injury will keep him from playing professional hockey again. I hope the Oilers were decent enough to cover a post-secondary education for him so that he could still have a career beyond his contract expiring.
