Forecasting the Future

Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Team Explanation
Based on cap increase of $2.5M/season.

Instead of losing Copp or Lowry to expansion, the Jets package Little and a 2nd to Seattle.

L1 - Big, Strong, Fast and Skilled
L2 - Catch them if you can
L3 - Excellent possession and shut down
L4 - Meh

D1 - Niku will grow into this role over the next two seasons. Morrissey is an excellent constant to his creativity
D2 - Both will be given ample opportunity over the next two years to refine their games.
D3 - Any 2 of these 4 could earn regular duty. Too early to tell.

G - Berdin's play will make resigning Broissoit unnecessary.

I realize there will be temptation to bring in a 2C or RHD over the next two seasons. THe Jets are a draft and develop team and in order for the players in that system to buy into the plan, there has to be promotion from within. I have included an extension for Perreault but ideally, someone like Luoto, Harkins, MacKenzie or a draft pick can earn that spot.

So two seasons from now we're gonna extend ZERO points Adam Lowry for FOUR more seasons AND give him a raise?!!!... Is the nightmare ever going to end??
He shouldn't be the 3C now, if he's the 3C for four more seasons you can kiss any chances of being a cup contender goodbye!

I'd switch the cap hit on Lowry and MP85. Otherwise, I like it.

By this season, he will be 35 years old. He's contemplating retirement already, I can't see him re-upping after his current contract expires (if he even returns for the last two seasons of that deal)

You have a good point. Maybe the team is better off exposing him to expansion and keeping Little as 3C and the 2nd rounder.

No. Lowry, even at his absolute floor, Lowry is still a good possession player, and a passable bottom 6 player. For their usage I would rather pay a middle of the pack bottom 6 player 3Mill than an elite bottom 6 forward 5.5mill.
