They get pick, top 4 RHD dman that can play 24+ mins a night, and two RFAs that can right now and keep young players in the AHL. I think it a overpayment honestly. AA has been terrible this year and Zadina is struggling in the AHL and might be another Nylander. Just hope change can help both of them.

Its 14 games in for AA and 11 games in for Zadina... DET isnt just going to give up on them because of a tiny sample size... Zadina is only 19 and had a strong AHL season last year. a 2nd round pick doesnt make up for the difference between these players. BUF would have to add a lot

AA will not resign with Detroit and will be a holdout need to get something for him. It is a very fair deal and i think you are over valuing your player if you think otherwise. Risto is worth more then AA. to make up for it sabres would need pick or prospect. Adding zadina is to much so to make up difference you get second and two roster players.

No need to move Franzen whom is on his last year and is on LTIR, Detroit isn't moving Zadina any time soon. And AA probably comes with a reasonable extension Ristolainen could walk in 2 years. Not sure if this is enough to move the pedal forward for us.

What makes you think AA will not sign with DET? Do you personally know him? Did he tell you? If not then thats just 100% speculation. As an Avs fan I am literally the polar opposite of a Wings fan so idk how i can be overvaluing 'my player'

exchange Zadina for a B level prospect and its a lot closer. not sure why you think a rebuilding team like DET would give up on their 19 year old 6th overall pick without getting a young prospect/player of similar caliber in return

Thanks for your input. All signs point to AA not signing with Detroit. If that is true then they need to maximize the return. Risto is more then enough to get AA and Detroit will need to add especially considering the poor play of AA and Risto killing it in Buffalo.

Given Detroit's and Colorado's history if a Colorado fan is sticking up for Detroit it must be REALLY BAD. I have to agree.

First Franzen is in the last year of his contract and on LTIR he costs Detroit no cap at all. Second I thought we put the AA for Risto to bed a while ago because it's just not going to happen. I'm sorry but if Buffalo want's Detroit's best prospect it's going to cost Buffalo's best prospect and that's Cozens. So there is no reason for Detroit to accept this deal.

Being fair to AA, He's always been a notorious slow starter. Plus coming off an injury being on a bad team and playing with terrible players isn't helping him either. Pretty sure when all is said and done he'll be just fine. Probably still produce what he produced last season 54 points or so.

Totally disagree with all signs point to AA not signing with Detroit, There's absolutely no proof of this being the case. Actually most of the issues were between his agent and Holland. And the team that i can definitely see chasing him is Edmonton and Ken Holland. The only way i see him possibly not being resigned by Yzerman is if his agent ask for an absurd amount of money. Which i doubt happens if he doesn't start producing here shortly. But Yzerman has stated that AA is part of Detroit's future core so unless he's blown away by a deal he can't resist. I truly doubt AA is going anywhere any time soon.

Risto and a 2nd yes, the other 2 are depth players that id rather keep but dumping their cap is cool too

AA is off to a bad start which is nothing new but he is still getting good scoring chances by blowing by guys the same as last season. His TOI has also gone up from last season because his play without the puck has improved greatly from last year. Its a slump that is all it is and since he did get first goal of the season (removing the monkey from his back) he will start to play better I don't think he gets 30 this season but over 20 is still very likely.

I don't expect you to agree with me and you have made some valid points on why you don't think AA is worth much. If I was on another team trying to acquire AA I would make pretty much the same argument. The point I'm trying to make is the value may be even trade but at this point AA is still worth more to Detroit and Yzerman isn't going to trade him for his play in 14 games especially when his missed the first couple of games due to injury. AA is still one of the fastest skaters in league easily top 5. Plus he generates most of his own offense because of his speed. If Detroit does trade him it won't be until the TDL.

"All signs point to AA not signing with Detroit."

Yes he did holdout a couple of years ago with a different GM and I do see him resigning because Yzerman likes him and knows just how valuable he really is. Plus he is still an RFA.

I agree with you, but man I hear a lot of the same stuff we were saying about Nylander in your statement about Zadina. Hope it turns out better for you guys. Although we were able to flip Nylander for a young great top 4 D so I guess it wasn't to bad in the end. We just held on to every last strand of hope because of his draft position and name sake.

I believe of all the Wings AA will be the one traded.. Rhat being said Zadina is not even 20 years old and he only has played one year on a smaller NA ice surface. Yzerman has preached patience from day one. Can not see them trading Zadina.

Sounds like you undervalue Risto, but... He is worth AA+ a little bid, so the ERod Girgensons and 2nd make the difference, but this trade doesn't happen if AA wants to resign in Detroit, I do thing that Girgensons is a valuable player because he can play 4th line and he really pushes the play. Making him not as much as an obstacle for young players, but Zadina us worth a lot, idk if those expiring players make the difference. Maybe if that was a 2020 second?
