Puljujarvi

Created by: Shakabakes
Team: 2019-20 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 6, 2019
Published: Nov. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Considering his production at this point, I don't see the Oilers getting better than a 2nd.

I like Lindgren, but I think he eventually gets lost in the upcoming blue line depth the Rangers have in their system. Has played well in limited time Quinn has given him.

In 3 years his points per season average is 21. Chances are you could draft a similar if not better player with that 2nd round pick.

Lindgren's a heavy hitter. Your way over rating Puljujarvi.

I think ur completely wrong about lindgren he will be a 7th dman/ swapping for the 6th guy. And in no way are the rangers giving up a 2nd to get poolparty. Not to mention they don’t have the 2nd round pick anymore bc it was included in the fox deal

Puljujärvi is not in the NHL right now for a reason, leave it alone. And to give up a top prospect like Lindgren AND a high pick is INSANE.

What if it was a 3rd? I understand that I think Lindgren has played well. I just see him getting lost behind Miller, Lundkvist and maybe even Rykov when they are ready.

would you move Howden or Andersson instead? 1 for 1

Howden, yes. Andersson I am not ready to give up on. If Quinn ever gives him more than 8 minutes a night with someone other than Michael Haley and Brendan Smith, I would be interested to see what he is really capable of.

Howden I would do one for one.

The rangers D-core is just a mess right now and i think Ruff has a lot to do with that. Just look at what happened to Skjei after he was hired-- he went from being one of the most promising defensive prospects in the NHL to being a liability.

Lindgren may not have a long term place on the roster with Miller, Robertson, Jones, etc. (and Hajek already above him on the depth chart) but there would be no 2nd round pick required. A 2nd itself would get puljujarvi at this point.

This is bad logic. A 2nd rounder has like a 40% of playing 50+ games(!) in the NHL. That's not a very high watermark and only 40% of guys hit it. Everyone thinks they're getting Sebastian Aho when they're more likely to get Tommy Vannelli.

Also, you're using JP's NHL production in his D+1,2,3 years to call his ceiling 21 points. Most guys haven't even played more than a cup of coffee in the NHL by that point. Mika Zibanejad had 54 pts in his first 120 GP with pretty similar usage to JP (12-13 min TOI, some PP2). Is he a 36 pt player?

Sure, EDM screwed with his development, but people act like JP is a lost cause just because he moved on from the team that ruined his confidence. I think it will take a legitimate trade piece from the team that acquires him. Not just a late pick or some iffy prospect. Something like the deal proposed here could make some sense - IMO I think EDM will be able to find a prospect that they really like and make a swap.

Not bad logic at all. He can easily turn it around but what’s to say he’s just another HoSang or Yak? Why invest in that? What has he done in his NHL career that would make you believe he’s worth a 2nd and a player? A guy like Burakovsky got a 2nd and a 3rd and people thought that was a massive overpayment but he at least showed some offensive hope or some scoring touch. He’s not most guys ...suggested by his trade value. He’s a top 5 nhl draft pick from the last 3 years. So you shouldn’t expect him to be most guys....the fact he’s either not nearly as good as you think or he’s being misused. He’s basically a Brett Connelly 2.0. He might get rescued by the right team(Washington) or fail when he was traded to Boston. For every Zibanejad example there 2 that counter your point.

disagree, oilers have said they want a second and a prospect. Mind you that prospect is more of a B level prospect. A number of teams have interest but nobody wants to have a bidding war

I think the Oilers organization as a whole would admit that they screwed up his development. Now he is getting back on track in Finland and looks much better. Young players are usually slow to produce as was he, Howden and Andersson haven't taken off either. Scoring comes gradually for most young players, as they have to adjust to a professional pace, skill, and play. JP didn't fit the system for the Oilers as at times he seemed lost, and playing with Lucic never helped him score. Do i think given this year to boost his confidence he can come back and be an effective top 9, top 6 player? Yes, provided he buys into the system of the team he goes to (which I think he would just needs a fresh start) , and isn't surrounded by a couple of plugs

How about we just trade for a center? That is what we really need.

I can agree with what you’re saying. I’m not a fan of paying for potential and that’s not always the best way to go about business. If the oilers think he can come back and become a stud they shouldn’t trade him. I personally am not a fan of his play but I haven’t watched too many of his games.

I agree. If we move DeAngelo, that is the only thing I would move him for. A valuable 2C for a valuable RHD.

That's interesting. I think Holland would consider that.
