Klingberg out - any RHD offers

Created by: justaBoss
Team: 2019-20 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 6, 2019
Published: Nov. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Apparently Klingberg's out for a couple of weeks. Our RHDs without him are simply too weak. I'd go for market. I'd like to hear some thoughts from people if their team has a TOP4 RHD they could spare and what they'd want in exchange...

Oh man, Schultz would've been exactly what we need. Out of curiosity, what kind of package would you have wanted for him, had he still been available?

As for Johnson, I'd consider an exchange of Oleksiak+Honka for Johnson+Ruhwedel+1st lol.

Would have probably been something along the lines of one of Janmark/Faksa (preferably Faksa), Stephen Johns, a prospect, and maybe a 2021 2nd round pick for Schultz and Bjugstad.

It’d be tough cause the pens have so much forward depth and now they are pretty much all healthy lol.

Gives you depth gives us a speedy winger but I almost feel like I overpaid here haha

Honestly when it comes to prospects, there's 5 I don't want to move - Hintz, Gurianov, Robertson, Dellandrea and Harley. All other prospectd are open for a trade, so pick the one you like the most.

Logically, but I looked and saw that in recent years you have not many prospects, especially in the early rounds. frown

I probably would've passed on that. Moving Faksa, prospect and a pick for a rental d-man seems awfully hefty price. Not to mention that Bjugstad and Schultz cost near to $10M in cap, while giving up Faksa and Johns is only $4,5M. That brings an issue.

Maybe Dickinson+Sekera+Honka+conditional 3rd that turns 2nd if Schultz re-signs for Schultz? Pens save money and get future assets...

Yeah, one of our biggest weaknesses have been our draft picks. They haven't been up to par.

Really, our best players that have been drafted by Dallas (aside from Heiskanen who has a lottery win) are Klingberg, Benn, Hintz and Lindell. Benn and Klingberg were 5th round picks, Hintz was drafted at the end of 2nd round and Lindell was a 3rd round pick...

"TOP4 RHD they could spare". What????/. Yep teams have that spare part. You make it should like your lawn mower is broken but will be fixed in a few weeks. Can I borrow yours for a couple of cuts?

Teams needs seven or eight NHL Dmen if they hope to make a playoff run/Cup run. Just don't think any short term RHD are available from about 26 teams right now. Sens DeMelo with his expiring contract and small cap hit might be logical candidate.

Such a situation, when the player seems to be suitable for your team, we are ready to trade him, but it does not work out to conclude a deal. Hinz is not available, Gurianov seems to be playing in your top 6 now and looks good, we probably just don’t really need Harley, unless Dellandrea or Robertson, but you also don't want to trade, which is also logical considering the pool of your prospects. I don’t even know, I see one dubious option, where we add to Risto some good prospect in exchange for your prospect: Robertson or Dellandrea.

Lol. What I meant by it was basically: "Any RHDs available for a trade?" I admit it might've sounded weird.

Well make an offer then. I don't exactly want to move either of them, but if the offer is good I might consider it. Which one would you like to have more?

I used to want Hintz, but now it’s obvious that it’s not possible. Maybe some player for Bottom 6, who is persistent and fast, plus some perspective, there may also be a choice, it all depends on the package.

I would honestly be open to moving Dellandrea + pick + some cap

Buffalo gets: Dellandrea, conditional 3rd, Cogliano

Dallas gets Ristolainen, Lazar, 7th

This is an interesting offer, but I will try a little differently.

Buffalo Sabres
Janmark
Dellandrea
Caamano
2021 2nd
2022 5th
Dallas Stars
Ristolainen
Vesey/Sheary/Rodrigues to choose
Lazar
2020 7th

Value-wise it's decent, but monetary wise it doesn't work. We'd be taking 5-6M in cap which isn't a realistic option. You'd need to take a cap dump from DAL.

Ok, but I don’t know who, Cogliano and Comeau are two more years under contract, Johns? One of them probably.

Well Johns might be out for good with his injury, so trading him isn't that realistic. So yeah, it must be either Cogliano or Comeau I guess...

Yeah I suppose that could work. The one player I'm actually the most salty about losing here is Caamano, because realistically I can't think of a way getting Risto without adding Dellandrea. But adding Caamano as well...that stings a bit. I'd much rather give up Honka instead.

Hmm, I thought it was just AHLer for you, though you get in return Lazar, who I really liked in the pre-season games and looks good in the AHL, he is a very interesting type of player, I am also a little sorry to give him away. Well, we just don’t need Honka, we have Montour, Jokiharju and Miller in the NHL as RHD, and Borgen, Nelson and Fitzgerald in the AHL.

I was also impressed by Caamano during his short visit in Dallas when we was replacing injured Perry. I kinda liked his game. If possible I'd drop both Caamano and Lazar, and maybe turn the 5th into a 4th...could that work?

Djoos is in the AHL and plays right side pretty well. In their last 20 NHL games, I think he's outscoring Klingberg.
