If the Hawks were to trade Lehner, it would be either because they still want to roll with Crawford as the number 1 going forward or they believe in Lankinen or Delia enough to set them as the number 1 in a couple years, in either case I don't think they would want Schneider back. Based on Lehner's level of play right now, it would probably be Jesper Boqvist and a Lottery Protected first. Lehner, who has played out of his mind this season, has proved he is not a goalie that only thrived because of the Barry Trotz system. He is thriving while still facing 40 plus shots a game. That and he's only 28 years old and has atleast 8 good years left, its gonna cost a hefty price to lift him out, especially with no reason to think he wants to hit the open market. He just wants to play.

To me...including Schneider is a pretty large negative. He's NOT a true #1 goalie which means the Hawks will have a $6M backup for a few years which isn't ideal cap management since they're already up against the cap ceiling. I personally have would trade Lehenr at half retention to the highest bidder. Call me cold and heartless...I don't care. The Hawks problems are not singular. Get as many high picks as you can. I don't see NJ being the landing spot as I don't see them giving up enough assets to get him. Yeah...I guess they could, but NJ isn't a true cup contender this year. I see a team like CAR because it's already clear they don't have a #1 goalie. They also have multiple high picks over the next few years. Or if an unfortunate injury were to happen. I would hate for any player to get hurt, but it does happen.

Chicago would be terribly stupid to get rid of Lehner unless they got the clear vibe that he was not going to re-up.

I hope four our sake that there is a contract sitting somewhere with Lehners signature on it ready to be announced January first.

This guy is a warrior, and for us to trade him it would require a first round pick plus a top prospect.

I agree, Schneider is going to be a problem for us for years to come. I can't see any team taking that off our hand.

Send him to Seattle with an add. They will need some High dollar players to get to the cap floor minimum

To a REASONABLE extension...sure but I don't see that happening.

What if you're out of the hunt (current Hawks position) and another team with a glairing need (cough cough CAR...) would trade what you're asking for? If I were Stan I'd do it and add a conditional clause tied to an extension. CAR might want him, but look at Zuccarello last year. That might not have started out as the best trade, but could have turned into (2) 1sts. I'd do something similar to try an avoid Lehner extending in CAR...or Stan gets a haul in a trade. There's only 1 other team I see truly going for a #1 goalie next year and that's DET. Hopefully Lehner liked his time in CHI.
