Blues pass on that. Dunn>Nylander for us. He is our one good LHD so it's gonna be a hard pass for a guy who is overrated. Also Steen has done well, Allen is the best backup we can get in the League neither of them need to go especially when we aren't investing one of our best prospects in Kyrou in that deal.

I don't mind the Nylander so much as some other Leaf fans, but it depends on the the cost of signing Dunn. Sorry no way Steen waives for Ottawa

Dunn’s pretty freaking good dude. His xgf/60 was behind only Karlsson and Hamilton last year and he had more goals and points than Nylander (obviously because he played more games.)

Dunn turned 23 like a week ago and has been a consistent 2-way player for years already. STL wouldn't trade Dunn for Nylander straight up.

yes they would. Also Dunn is not two way at all, Pietrangelo is two way, Dunn is not good defensively without the puck.

the trade would be more like Dunn and Kyrou for Nylander.

But in saying all of that the Blues will probably look at Nylanders cap hit and would rather keep Dunn and see how Kyrou turns out hoping he is a similar player to Nylander for cheaper.

And Steen will not waive for Ottawa.

Allen for sure needs to go to clear cap, but not until the off season.

That OTT trade is a bad idea. The last year of Allen's deal should be trade-able and Steen can be bought out if we really need to pinch the cap space. Not gonna lose a 1st and our best prospect to manage cap when there are a few better ways to do it.

I don't think the Blues are in a position to trade Dunn but Nylander would be a good addition if Toronto wants to move him. It would require some additional shuffling in STL given our depth at C/RW now and in the future.

While I agree Dunn is greater for the Blues he’s not that great. He’s good and still developing his game, but you acting like the deal is a travesty is odd here. Also, Allen the best backup we could get? I think Anders Nilsson could provide just as much value at a much lower price.

Dunn isn’t a true two-way but he’s not terrible defensively either. It also wouldn’t cost Dunn AND Kyrou. Mark Stone only received a good prospect and 2 seconds with an extension and he’s way better than Nylander.

Well for 1 Ottawa is dumb and 2 that was a deadline move and Ottawa was clearly moving Stone and had to get the best offer they could. TOR does not HAVE to move Nylander and it would cost more, Blues have no leverage like Vegas did.

If Toronto wants to move salary like they've discussed, then the other teams also have leverage. Blues don't need Nylander either. So when neither team needs the other a middle ground is reached.

true so like I said before the Blues probably would not make the trade. But someone will offer TOR more than what Ottawa got for Stone. TOR is under the cap they can make it work with Nylander there is no leverage, sure moving him would clear space but again they dont HAVE to like Ottawa did, otherwise Stone was walking for nothing.

But I dont really think TOR wants Dunn maybe a Faulk and 2nd for Nylander is more likely.

They definitely need RHD more. And honestly, I might make that trade if we can resign Petro

It really wasn’t about Vegas haven’t leverage, but Ottawa getting the best deal available for the departing veteran winger.

right which is a form of leverage knowing he is leaving and Ottawa is desperate to move him.

This would be a trade Toronto would easily make I think. Dunn would be the piece the Leafs would be interested in. I would pass on Husso & Sanford, and want Sundqvist and Fitzpatrick.

I don’t know how this would work for the Blues. They would not able to afford Nylander’s salary. Nylander does seem to be a player Berube would welcome into the fold.

I think if this was to happen for the Leafs, they would be a bubble team at the TDL, acquiring Dunn, and moving Muzzin. With five UFA’s on the leaf blueline there will be changes.
