Although Galchenyuk's hurt right now, that seems like an undersell on him. None of the three players are anything more than depth, and the 2nd probably doesn't sway a team trying to win into moving a pending UFA

So something like Pietrangelo, Parayko, and like 2 firsts is the type of deal they want like he is untouchable.

They pass. Pittsburgh already has too many good defensemen and not enough cap space. They gave away Maata this summer.

Since they just traded Phil Kessel for Gachenyuk, the value is whatever Kessel usually gets traded for, after his team has a bad year, so if Pittsburgh is emotionally out of the playoff race at the deadline, you can offer two recent or future first picks and change. If they're still in it, and line chemistry isn't clicking, build something around a couple of top line wings, maybe starting with Schenn?

As a Caps fan, I support the above trade, though. Do it.

They'd probably be looking for a "hockey deal" if they were to move him right now. They obviously saw things they like with him since they traded for him, and he hasn't really been able to showcase any of that yet due to injuries. They probably just hold off for now until they know what he can be with them

Maybe more something like: Bozak + Kostin as the Pens wants to go for the big run... and getting a 3C would help.

I'd do that, I like Toropchenko, and the second would be nice, just take out MacEachern and Sanford bc we're at 49/50 contracts iirc, and they have basically no value (or take back like two AHL forwards, we have enough already...) And Galch really hasn't been that good in a few years, and he's been TERRIBLE this year, I do expect that to get better, as he adjusts to the pens system...

I thought they gave away Maatta because he couldn't beat out JJ in the playoffs.

Yeah his value is not high but that package does not have anything Pittsburgh would be willing to move him for. Like others have said he has been hurt and they haven't even really seen what he brings and I think they like him with Malkin who has also been hurt. Probably not going to move him during the season.

I’m just asking dude I don’t know if he is worth a lot and is untouchable or just not worth a crap.

I don’t think they’d trade him right now. He’s only played like 6-7 games. And they just bumped him to Crosby’s wing. They’ll probably want to see what he can do there first. If they’d trade him, they’d want a right handed top 6 winger in return as part of the deal

Galch should be playing center.I know he isn’t great in the circle but that’s where he thrives.

Rly... Ik ARZ tried him there... I would assume there's a reason that Schmaltz (and Dvorak Hayton Stepan Big Soda etc) is there now and Galch isn't (along with the fact that they fleeceed the **** out of PIT)

He barely played center there, but he’s also had his best seasons in his career while playing center. Problem is that he’s not that great defensively which is why he was moved to the wing. Arizona had drafted Hayton before trading for Galchenyuk. Then they had a chance to get Kessel. They had to make cap space for him so why not use the guy for that since he was only signed for another year?
