Panik out Jensen to leafs djoo for honka

Created by: TopLineTom43
Team: 2019-20 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 8, 2019
Published: Nov. 8, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
He is a solid player but he’s not a good fit right now with the capitals. To avoid people saying he sucks here’s his number.

Last 2 seasons
72 games 14g 21a 35 points
75 games 14g 19a 33 points

He’s good for 30-35 points a year. That’s about average for a 3rd line player. He is signed for a solid price and has good term. In no way is his contract a steal at the moment but he’s also not over paid.

Additional Details:
Oilers have an amazing top 6 but their bottom 6 could use some help. Based off last year numbers Panik would have been in their top 5 forwards in scoring. He isn’t dynamic but he can add some bottom 6 points that the oilers are missing

Why? He’s 25 and will need to get paid after this season? Jensen a cheap puck moving rhd. He has solid numbers but they no cap and they need cheap defense?

The leafs have the cap to sign Mikheyev and Dermott and along the lines of a Muzzin or a Barrie

How much does Reilly what then? 9? Most likely they will trade Anderson for a Goalie if Ian Scott Or Joseph Woll is Ready and if not they will trade a Kapanen Nylander or Johnson? Remember who knows what happens in 2 years and I’m making a bet it won’t matter because I think Mik will take a small cut

Based off Matthews Marner and Nylander. 10.5 million Reilly. Anderson 9-9.5 million. What’s a discount 2.5-3 million. Well see

Shumakov outscored Mikheyev in the KHL. Hutchinson might have to clear waivers to get to Hershey. SJ claims him. Leafs take Jensen for nothing and get back to the top of the standings? No thanks.

Yes, the Oilers would give up a 3rd pick for Richard Panik, who has been terrific defensively. I think he probably started the year hurt and they just didn't announce it until he decided he couldn't play anymore. His offense will get here. The Caps are doing well. Their penalty kill is terrific. That's keeping them in games, and making the regular season easier. Don't panik.

Djoos has twice as many points as Honka, whether it's per season or per game. Yes, Honka's 23 now, but he's holding out for a big contract when his career high of five points is two years removed. Last year Djoos got seven points in a fifteen game stretch. That takes Honka a year and a half. No way the Caps add a pick to swap Djoos for Honka. Draft position doesn't count once you see what players can actually do.

Over the last two seasons Panik is tied for 174th in points among forwards, with Nick Foligno, Franz Nielsen, Cody Eakin, Jesper Bratt, and Artem Anisimov. There are 186 top six guys, and he's just barely in there. You're right that he'd be a 2nd liner with the Oilers: "Based off last year numbers Panik would have been in their top 5 forwards in scoring." Probably some other teams, too.

He's also averaged 140 hits, over the last three years, and has been a third-unit penalty killer on the team with the best PK.

Panik for a 3rd would be a steal. I think the OIlers probably add a forward prospect or make it a 2nd. He's 28 and off to a weak start, but he's got 2nd line offense and 3rd line defense, at a 3rd line price tag.

Mikheyev is a RFA. The leafs could trade him in the offseason for much more, if he keeps up this pace and they decide they can’t afford him.

Doubt it. Much more would be a 1st round pick which is very unlikely that a team is willing to give that up for him. Either way no point in arguing over hypotheticals. And they will need to mark QO and if they fail to do so he is a UFA. You need cap space to sign him. He’s looking at what 3m. His value would be close to Gusev

Mikheyev is on pace for 17g and 47p playing with Auston Matthews and William Nylander as a 25 year old? Unless he picks it up, the Leafs trade his rights in the offseason for a 2nd and move up Tymashov, Kapanen, Petan, Moore, or Bracco. Jensen was recently traded for two 2nds.

Mikheyev doesn’t play with Matthews or Tavares

...and Hutchinson has cleared waivers. This deal is not looking as bad. I still think Jensen is what the Caps need to stay up in the standings, but it's getting closer.
