    Additional Details:
Call me crazy but I like this trade a lot for the Blackhawks specifically, they could sell Maatta this year for a second probably if they end up selling right? Well here they get that second but it’s a little later (kotkov is tossed in to “balance that out” I guess idk), but they get Dillon as well...why? They can easily sell Dillon for a second or more with retention to a cup contender (UFA this offseason), this effectively gets them two 2nd round picks + assets in the end. Idk I personally like it

Wouldn’t take vlasic with a 1st rd pick attached, but you can have mayfield for a 2nd + 3rd.

I agree with your analysis on the Hawks. 5 stars. I'd make this trade as a Hawks fan. Maatta's been pretty good, but the have a backlog of young dmen that need ice time. I'd also flip Dillion as you suggest for the pick. The Hawks will have more cap space next year. They need a #1 Goalie and D Strome to sign and don't have a ton of cap. ALSO, Stan made that trade...before DeHaan. I'm not so sure he would have made the Maatta trade if he knew DeHaan was available for so cheap.

You won’t be able to trade vlassic unless you retain 50% of his salary. The final season are terrible for the team since vlassic will be 35. After 35 the contract are buyout proof and even retirement proof. Even if he play 3-4 more years the three remaining years Even at 3,5 millions become really heavy for a team.

If Matta is worth a second and Dillon is worth a second why are we trading two seconds for one?

Because we get a stable and cost controlled blueline, and still maintaining a a 2020 pick
