how good is that prospect? because the rangers would either have to pay or retain to trade away staal. (MIN is the only team he'd probably waive to so the idea isn't horrible) (What is horrible is that you have Victor Rask as your 2nd line center.

Nope Wild need more to take Staals contract. JEEK can't score goals but he is otherwise very good. Zuccarello is just starting to get comfortable in MN. Rangers can offer more.

I like Zuccarello. I don't entirely get his new contract, but it is a lot better than Marc Staal's contract.

I mean after Staal's contract is done, Zuccarello costs 18 mil during his 34/35/36 years. 1: no one is taking that. 2: Taking Staal isn't enough to compensate for that.

He started out horrible, but has been quite good recently. I want him gone because he is exactly the player the Wild don’t need or want IF they would commit to a rebuild...as the should!

Here’s another way to look at it...if he was signed to a 3 or 4 year deal at $5million per, what would you offer for him?

For example if we’re looking at 3 yrs at 5 per id say something like a 2nd + Honka. At the contract he has now. It would need to be minimum 1.5 mil retained in salary and even then idk what I’d offer. Tufte + Conditional 3rd?

I’d say if Zucc puts up 50+ points or makes the WCF, it becomes a 2nd. Something along those lines
