Why would the Leafs trade better right shot Dman AND playmaker to "strenghten the right side"? ?

Leafs have lots of RHD in the minors, and certainly aren't trading the superior Liljegren who almost assuredly a Leafs next season.

You might find this hard to believe but Juulsen is going to be a better defenceman than Liljegren in the NHL. Juulsen is bigger and has a bigger heart than most of the current Leafs and his hockey IQ is off the charts. If he was not injured last year, he would have still been on the Canadians team last year and this year. Have been aware of his talent for years prior to him even playing junior hockey at age 16. Bracco is still a question mark given his size although he looks like he might be a good set up man for a powerplay.

What makes you so sure that he is going to be a superior player than Juulsen??? Juulsen actually made the Canadians last year and then was injured while Lilejegren has not played in NHL to this point. I think Lilejegren is going to make NHL and be a good puck mover dman but he will not bring to the table what Juulsen offers in size, heart and IQ.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say because he has watched liljegren play this year. Your description of liljegren does not match reality.

I am not doubting that he has watched Liljegren play this year in TO and I would 100% trust his assessment of the player. I actually gave no description of Liljegren and think he will make the NHL. My only comment was that I actually believe that Juulsen is going to be a better NHL defenceman and will provide more size, heart and IQ than Liljegren.

How do you measure heart? Leafs have ****ing heart. Thats why they won most of the games, they battle through adversity and win.. Juulsen is good but you are forgetting that Liljegren is top pairing defenseman in AHL for his third season now and he is only barely 20 years of age. Juulsen is 2 years older. You are forgetting how damn good Liljegren is..

I would give Liljegren more hope and he is two year younger. You seem to justify the trade in "heart". Size, they are the same weight though Juulsen is a little taller. IQ...maybe it's the two years age difference. Sorry TMLSage I don't think your three measures of difference in the two players can be justify your distain for Liljegren. But if true, why would Montreal do the deal? I don't think Bracco is gonna to be an NHLer.
