I actually don't mind this.

Both have 3 years of control (and will be looking for raises next year in similar range).

Sharks need goaltending. Rangers need a replacement on the Left for Kreider next year, while also having Shestyorkin ready to take over in net.

Could debate the Pick (maybe a 4th or 5th), but that's nitpicking a bit. Not a bad deal for either.

I like the trade in terms of value, but I wouldn’t do it. I don’t think we need Labanc because even if we do trade Kreider at the deadline, we have Kravtsov who has played the LW for us in prospect tournaments.
Also, I’d rather keep both Georgiev and Shesterkin at least till we can figure out who is better and is more capable of being the goalie of the future.

Bad deal for sharks. George is unproven and we should not get rid of our already bad forward depth

Labanc is minus-14 with only 9 points. If the sharks don’t get improved goaltending they kiss the year goodbye and are one step closer to the window being completely shut. This is a great deal for SJ. Labanc is already looking at being replaced in the top six by Goodrow who has been twice as effective so far this season.

Nearly 3000 minutes in net and a .915 career save percentage is not exactly unproven. His numbers are exponentially better than anything Jones or Dell have put up in the last three years and on a much worse team.

Labanc moving puts an already bigger hole being dug even bigger in our top 6, jones had been much more then underwhelming last year but jones this year hasn’t been our Achilles as much as media makes it out to be; mainly a lot of media especially Canadian uses his numbers but don’t watch the games (some will even flat out say it) because of time zones, our defence is atrocious; yes jones could make a few more key saves but he already does make a couple every night but we just collapse in our end for a majority of every game to the point where there’s cross creases and constant lose of Center ice control. Jones makes mistakes more then the average goalie it seems but our defence makes much more and therefore puts a spotlight on him if a goal is scored. Labancs possible 50+ points is much more important then putting goodrow full time in our top 6. I like Georgiev a lot but he is not worth losing labanc

Jones is one of the worst goalies in the league. There are about 16 backups with better numbers. That is really bad. I don’t see Labanc netting 50 again, probably closer to 40 which is why Doug wouldn’t give him a big deal.

Lol, backups don’t have such an abysmal team defence in front of them. For example I can’t say that about every team but the islanders goalies last year and this year usually have identical stats; now that is in part to consistent play but a majority is on team defence. It’s not a coincidence; a couple games ago varma and Greiss had literally the exact same stats with marginal decimal differences and the same goals against and shots (I think on this shots part). Team defence is just as important as goaltending; as vasi’s numbers aren’t very amazing this year; because of the team in front of him playing lackluster. Jones is part of the problem but trading him isn’t the solution. Neither is getting another back up that will have to deal with what’s being handed out in front of him. We should get a goalie that can split games with jones to soften the blow but giving up labanc only creates a new problem(once again not a solution). I don’t think you’re “wrong” I just think jones shouldn’t get the brunt of blame (not exempt from it tho)
