Think TB needs to add. Probably some picks will do.

hall is gonna walk from New Jersey and since the devils are constructed to win now, I dont see how they get a better offer than this

Fairly equal value-wise but unless Tampa can resign one of Hall and Vatanen (both UFA 2020) they're giving up 2 solid young pieces with no RFA arbitration (Sergachev and Joseph) and Gourde (signed long term).

Can only see this trade going through if Hall is treated as a rental, and Tampa thinks they can get Vatanen at less of an AAV than Sergachev. I always thought the Gourde signing was fair value, but Tampa may need one of their late 20s forwards ( Palat, Johnson, Killorn all have NTC, so Gourde seems like the guy) out for next year to free up some cap space (resign Cirelli and Vasi up to 9.5M, ). Coleman can fit well in Tampas forward group at a cap hit at 1.8M.

Yup .. this trade .. plus minus a minor piece or pick or 2 makes ALL sense for both teams. Tampa moves Gourde and no need to sign Serg and Joseph for 2020 .. probably saves around 10M .. enough for Hall .. Vertanen and Shatterkirk fight for 2020 contract and Cal Foote plays .. one thing Tampa could do is add Colburn to fhe deal above. 3rd pair D for 1 more year

Would we really have enough room to keep Hall? Sergachev + Gourde + Joseph might be around $10m, but we don’t have enough space for them either. Also, I was under the impression that Foote has disappointed this year.

Hall is a pure rental, so this trade won't happen. Tampa would be unable to afford Hall at his asking price of 9 or 10 minimum, and wouldn't be able to afford Vatanen at 4 or 5 either. Gourde won't waive for the Devils in any case, and Sergachev should not be traded for a rental as he is a future top pairing or top 4 guy that Tampa can't afford to trade for 1 run. The trade is far from a win win, more of an all in move for Tampa and the team isn't at that point in their window.

I think the lowest chance besides Minnesota,Ott,Det or any other 100% non-playoffs teams that Taylor Hill will get traded is Tampa Bay Lightning. We just don't have the cap space in the future, so the only way this would work if we sign Hall to a 6-8 year extension after the trade without NTC and NMC and we trade him in the offseason for like 1st round pick + solid young defender + some smalller picks or similar package.
I'm not sure if Hall agrees to put his faith in the Tampa organization for his next destination. I think he demands NMC/NTC, but who knows, maybe for him a real shot to win the cup might worth the risk.(that he gets traded to a bad team after this season ends, as i see 0% chance we can keep another 10 million $ contract player on the roster in 2020/2021)
Otherwise we just lose this trade badly, and that's not what our GM does. Remember last year: WE DID NOTHING at TDL. If we do a trade this season, it has to be a good one on short and long run.
If we lose a trade like this and we don't win the cup, it's a disaster, and i think we still might lose in the playoffs with Hall.
Also you have to remove Gourde from the trade, since he says in 1 millsecond, when he hears New Jersey Devils: No thanks...
Oh yeah if you remove Gourde, we don't have the cap space. So this trade just never works. Also we don't really need to trade for a guy like Coleman.
Vatanen is alright, i don't really know if he is playoff top tier shutdown caliber defender though... we might need one of those...
But i also wouldn't break up the Kill-Cir-Joseph shutdown combo line, they are just too valueable for us right now, especially, if we want to play playoffs hockey style games...i think joseph will be cheap to resign anyways...

TLDR:
What if we only get Vatanen from NJ for much cheaper(2nd round pick + some smaller stuff) for a rental, that might work cool cool cool

Lol, Sergachev is 21, yep, washed out, no top 4 chance, what a joke of a take that is. 6 years/60 million does not work long term lol, keep dreaming. Please show your agm where Tampa fits Hall at 10 per and actually ices a competitive 22 or 23 man roster, I'll wait lol. Oh and you say Vatanen is a rental? Lol, so the defense next year looks real stellar in your fantasy land. No Sergachev, Shattenkirk is gone, no Vatanen, welcome to Rutta and or Schenn in your top 4 since Foote will maybe be ready for 3rd pairing next year but not top 4. Give me a break with this nonsense.
