Jesse P: Holland is probably asking a decent prospect and a 2nd or 3rd varies on prospect. I’d off at most a 3rd and a Prospect ( like 19-21 yrs old and no nhl experience; maybe a B tier prospect).
Gagner: cap dump.

I’d say that Toffoli trade isn’t bad but LA probably wants anything “thing” for taking SG

Only thing is I'm pretty sure McLellan hates JP lol. And maybe instead, we can eat half of Gagner's contract? or maybe you send a smaller number like either Granlund or Manning which are less of cap dumps. Again one of those guys need to be attached for a JP trade.

Other thing is it would be an in division trade. That might come back to haunt both teams.

The only guys from the other conference that come to mind are Kapanen and Rust.

If Toronto signs a big UFA (d-man) then they might be willing to give you Kapanen for draft picks, but by definition that would only happen next summer, which doesn't help you now.

Rust is a more interesting proposition. Pittsburgh may well lose Schultz (or not want to keep him) so they might be interested in Puljujarvi (and maybe Bear or Benning or Persson or a second).

A deal framed around Rust for JP and Gagner I can get behind. Not sure about the other parts but if PIT wants to get younger, they could look at that. One of Gagner/Manning/Granlund would need to be attached though.

Don't think I wanna give up Bear or Benning right now, they're playing good hockey and are young pieces we can build our team with. JP for Kapanen is something I'd have time for. We would need a third team to take on some bad money. But if it was JP and 2nd rounder for Kapanen, I'd do that deal.

Considering LA is in a rebuild, and Toffoli is in the final year of his contract, I think the 2nd is sufficient. LA does not need another aging forward. Perhaps if this trade is going to work another team is needed for the Oilers to dump salary. Most likely this trade would come at the TDL, and Gagne could be move somewhere else. However, Toffoli will be sought by clubs and his value elevated.

I think as it stands right now, any team should be weary of Puljujarvi. LA could be getting only a 2nd for a player still with upside, when done right could get them more. Ideally, LA’s best interest would be to get teams bidding for Toffoli.

I think there should be condition if Toffoli signs with his new club. At age 27, he still has good years ahead of him.

I think Edmonton needs to add a 4th or 5th to get rid of Gagner.

McLellan doesn't want no part of pool party! Sad but true. I don't see this working at all

For Puljujarvi, Gagner, Manning and a 2nd, you can have Bjugstad and Johnson.

That's what a bust, an overpaid AHL forward, an overpaid AHL dman, and a 2nd gets. A 3C and a bad contract.

If Toff is a rental, doubt he'll deliver a cup this year..
If hes a re-sign, then only for $5.5 mill tops!
