The Sabers would be giving away assets for an upgrade in Matthews. Toronto's management are looking to get rid of him after his antics demonstrated that he is not captain material. This is the best opportunity for the Sabers to make a splash and boost their goal scoring.

I think you are mistaken. The Sabers have 6 deferenceman on 1-way contracts and 9 total defenceman.

Eichel has yet to even break the 30 goal mark. Statistically Matthews is a huge upgrade.

Woooo barely, both of those guys have terrible hair and Matthews mustache is hideous. Eichel probably cant grow a mustache, so I think Matthews is worth a bit more than Eichel!!!!

Well some people think brad Pitt is really good looking, his terrible acting does not detour people from paying him the big bucks. Matthews doesnt seem like that good of a person, that is also a strike against!

remember when I said they were laterals, meaning neither is marginally better? Yeah me too, as for why does Matthews make more money, do we really have to go over again why Dubas is an idiot at negotiating contracts? This has been discussed into oblivion
