I find it humorous how people just KNOW Gourde wont waive .. you know nothing as does anyone here .. he a career 4th liner at Tampa .. he may want a middle six shot on a crappy or maybe good team with a hole .. money irrelevant in decision ..

He may also want to win the Stanley cup and if hes traded asked to waive to NJ in exchange for Hall ( NJs best chance at winning the cup) then he mifht say no.

Gourde has advanced his career plenty here in Tampa, and although on the 4th line now, no guarantee he stays there forever. There's very little chance he waives for NJ, as noted, he goes from a contender to a likely lottery team, gets hit with much higher taxes and from all accounts, he has settled in well here. For what would be a rental Hall, Tampa could offer Joseph, Raddysh/Verhaeghe, a 2020 1st, and a 2021 2nd. That is the high end of Tampa's offer for a guaranteed rental Hall. Tbh would rather pay less and go after Kreider or Toffoli, as though both will also likely be rentals, they will cost less to acquire at the tdl and both provide solid help to Tampa.

Has advanced his career in Tampa? .. huh? .. 64 pts to 48pts to tracking to 30ish this year and a 4th line spot .. that is where he belongs .. period.

It is obvious to see after a couple years .
NOT THE FIRST YEAR WHERE THIS IS NO FILM AND THEY ARE PUT ON 1ST OR 2ND LINE AS ROOKIES ... to see what a player really is .. Gourde is 4th liner and a good one .. the Bruins 4th line has been great for years and key reason for their success .. I think it great Tampa finally has a 4th line and will help in playoffs!!! ... we just have 1 guy making more than TWICE as much AAV then the other 2 combined .. GM mistake
PERIOD.

Gourde has established himself here as a 40-50 point 2nd/3rd line ceiling, with perhaps a 50+ point season some years. He is working well on a grindy 4th line right now with Maroon and Paquette, but can easily slot higher. He is still averaging over 50 points a year here on his 2 full seasons and could still hit 40 points this year. He's not going anywhere anytime soon so all of these trades that have him waiving for a bottom feeder are just funny. The contract was very fair for the time and still is decent for what he has brought to the team.

Lacks NHL skills lol, 129 points in 199 career games, .65 ppg average, one of the hardest workers on the team most nights, yep career AHL guy lulz. He's still on track for 45 points this year which if he hits, would give him 157 points in 3 full seasons. I think most teams would call an average 52 point player at approx .6 ppg nhl worthy and better than a 4th liner on most teams. And look at that, a guy averaging just over 50 points a year making just over 5 million per, yep real terrible contract lol.

Lacks NHL skills lol.

DAT 9th goal Yanni scored vs Rangers: Pure Skill wink popcorn

He has some as all of you guys can see by that beatiful quick move, i take back all my statements about him not having any skill. --> He just doesn't show it most of the time.
He gets his goals by battling in front of the net or by rebounds etc... smile
The problem is when he is out of form: he disappears from the important parts of the game. Similar to JT Miller. Yes these guys are good NHL players. But you need consistency in the playoffs: thats our priority and yanni is too small of a guy to expect too much from him on like 2nd line so he is a much better fit for the 4th line, where scoring a lot of goals isn't that much important. And there he is def overpaid... His contract should have been around 4 million or trade him away before his new contract.
I believe for a team like New Jersey Devils it would worth the 5 mill contract, but for us it's too much. Unf he has that clause, so hard job for our GM.
If we want to win the cup, it's much better if we replace him with like another Maroon contract type of guy ( under 1-2 million) and we spend the money on Defensive depth or some pure skill guys who can help to overcome those 0-1-2 goals games, where we allow 3-4+ and we lose. Maybe Colorado would trade for him idk... and they have the cap space, but they probably rather want Hall..

I said this before.... Gourde is like 99.9% stays here for 2019/2020 full season.. 2020/2021 = still probably 80%+ that he stays.... so these topics are good ... but not realistic right now... for fun it's ok.. but not really have any meaning...

Anyways, regardless of Gourde, currently i can't see us achieving anything(the dream) with this lineup, because we just don't defend = 3.5 GAA
We need to shakeup the roster or start our defensive structure from scratch, if we fail again in 2019/2020 playoffs.
Until we can't win a game to 1-0 or 2-1(empty net goals doesn't matter), we just can't expect high end results in the playoffs... and when was the last time this year, where we allowed 0 or 1 goal... usually we allow 3+ , which is pure garbage, and we just don't care about defense at all.
Trading away small non-gritty guys, although i like what Tyler Johnson doing in last couple of matches(being more physical - it's just not natural for him(he is born for speed + skill) )who overpaid and getting back some defensive forwards like Toffoli,Kreider could be a way to go with an added RHD like Savard,Risto,(fainting) Brodie etc... or try Foote... it's just those NTC's...

At least we have still 60+ games to fix our defensive game... until then... we doomed in the playoffs... first we should start not taking coaching challenging penalties(see winnipeg game) hahahaaa
That was a bad one... we instalost 2 points because of that cry But it's ok, we just need to get in the playoffs, wildcard is ok to me, just dat freakin defense... poor vasi... he thought he will improve his stats and now 3.0 GAA and almost under .900 SV %... crazy bad... i hope cooper soon starts doing something or the GM... top 5 worst defense = no cup

At least the next game St. Louis Blues should not score more than 2, in theory... if we care... We'll see! But i'm prepared for the loss already lmao...laugh
