If the Oilers make it to the playoffs, it would only be because of their McJesus, Draisaitl, Neal, and a Koskinen and Smith goalie tandem playing over their heads. This team needs more scoring depth before even fantasizing about making it past the first round.

Congrats on being the top Pacific team in the beginning of November! You seem so proud of your team. But not in a million years buddy... Maybe if you substituted a 1st round pick for Benning. NYR has absolutely no interest in Benning. Judging from past history though, Gorton will certainly get much better trade offers for Kreider than a late 1st round pick and Puljujarvi.

NYR fans think they'll get a 1st and a top prospect for Kreider, so they'll hate this trade. But in fact it's very fair.

- Benning is worth a 2nd
- Puljujarvi is probably worth a 2nd + a 3rd, which in turn might be worth a late 1st.

Essentially two 2nd's + 3rd is decent value for Kreider IMO - especially since he doesn't come with an extension.

From Edmonton's POV, this trade can't happen until Larsson returns later this month. I would be surprised if Holland trades JP for a rental - let alone 2 RFA assets - but stranger things have happened. Great job! Now ink Kreider to a 4 year extension for under $6M per.

Who do you rank more highly Lavoie or Yamamoto?

Take whoever you regard lower, add 1st and you get Kreider.

Are you serious? Look at the Mark Stone trade - and he came with an extension already agreed upon. Gorton is unlikely to get more for a rental Kreider.

And if NYR doesn't need Benning they could flip him for a 2nd.

lol 33 year old Rick Nash with a 7.8mil cap hit cost a 1st + recent 2nd rounder + 40 point player. gtfo with this fair value stuff lol

and he was coming off 2 straight injury filled sub 40 point seasons...

Again, more wishful thinking by NYR fans. Kreider as a rental is NOT worth more than Mark Stone with an 8 year extension. NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.

Ryan Spooner, yeah he's got lots of value! And just because one GM overpaid for Rick Nash 2 years ago, doesn't make that a template for trades today. That's ridiculous.

Who's basing this on Stone? Not sure why you would use last year's Deadline pool as a basis. Look how oversaturated the market was: Stone, Duchene, Dzingel, Hayes, Zucc, Nyquist, Johansson, Simmonds, etc etc.

Look at this year's rentals. Hall (probably receiving more than Duchene), Toffoli (healthy scratch 3 games ago) and Kreider...it's a different field. Using last year is not a good basis.

Better off going back. Rick Nash gets a 1st + recent 2nd rounder + 40 point player
Martin Hanzal gets a 1st + 2nd +
3rd liner Michael Grabner got a 2nd + Top 100 prospect

we can go on...

I mean Kreider > Hayes and Hayes got a 1st + even in that crazy over-saturated environment

I agree that's why adding Kreider would give speed with McJesus and insert DrDrai with Nuge

A cost controlled PP QB year old coming off of multiple 40 point seasons?

Probably worth a 3rd yeah...

So a 1st + a recent 2nd rounder + 3rd for a 33 year old coming off multiple injury plagued sub-40 point seasons making double Kreider's cap hit lol

Again, I'm not sure why you're trying to just drive down Kreider's value for no reason haha

The reason why Spooner was added was so Boston could absorb the cap hit...

We can argue for years of each of us judging value... but looking at Pulj in Fins playing very well... don't forget he was TOP3rank and come out 4th OA in 2016 still as ALOT of value.
Imagine your TOP RW in Kakko & Pulj sets for years... NYR top6

Yeah I mean he has 3rd rounder value. That doesn't really factor into a Kreider deal though. Have you looked any deeper into Puljujarvi's numbers?

Fun game:

Player A: 20 points in 17 games, 10 goals at Even Strength age 22 in Liiga
Player B: 20 points in 18 games, 6 goals at Even Strength age 21 in Liiga

Player A is Julius Nattien not even a top 15 prospect in the Anaheim organization. Available for barely anything.Player B is Puljujarvi. Again, how good is he doing?

Would you like to go over the translation factors? We can be here for awhile. But Puljujarvi value wise = Josh Ho Sang. Let's ask Isles fans how much Ho Sang is worth....

I got your point but how many 4OA players is not playing in the league 3 years after the draft?
ONLY YAKUPOV... So maybe Pulj will be the second biggest bust of ALL TIME!
