Not going to happen. A 30 goal guy for a defenseman who has been a healthy scratch on multiple occasions and doesn't play great defense would not be an intended target. Especially when SJ already has nearly 30 mil tied up in 3 defensemen where 2 of the contracts are looming horrendous right now.

ok he hasn't been a healthy scratch on multiple occasions. Do your research before making a statement like that. Ever since he has been a scratch he has been great. I understand if you don't want him because you'd have over 30mill tied up in your defense. But also you have to remember the Rangers defensive coach sucks and needs to be fired. He has made every defenseman worse for them. Skjei is an example of that. Look at Pionk on Winnipeg. He is playing awesome as of recent.

Sharks can't afford to lose another winger.

He was scratched once this season, a couple times last season as well as benchings in game. Maybe you should do your research on him. Not a Sharks fan, so there is no bias in this. Skjei has struggled the last few seasons especially with decision making in his own zone. Maybe it is a problem with the defensive coach, maybe it's just Skjei that's the problem. I actually Pionk was playing better than Skjei (albeit marginally) when he was with the Rangers and he has shown he was much better. That said, Skjei has struggled more than he's established himself as a good defender so he shouldn't command a young 30 goal scorer in a trade.

Timo Meier only had one good season of 30 goals w/ 66 pts. Other than that, he isn't living up to his contract thus far Can't release bring up the argument of the Sharks being one f the bottom feeder because the other Sharks are still able to produce despite the poor start of the season. (i.e. Couture, Kane, Burns, Hertl)

However, this is kinda arguable tho because Timo Meier is still very young player. I'll say it's pretty much like Alex Galchenyuk but Meier has more value than "Galchenyuk from after his 30 goals season"

That's a fair point. But 18 games of "regression" compared to two straight regressive years and only 100k difference in cap hit? I'll take Meier

who cares about last season? David Quinn scratched literally everyone other than Zibanejad and Kreider at least once last season. He was scratched at least 3 games last season. Not that bad. Maybe he needed a breather. He was scratched once this season for his poor play. Judging by last game, he needed to get scratched because the way he played against Florida was pretty good. Pionk was NOT playing well last season at all for the Rangers. He was horrible defensively. And I mean horrible. He was not one bit better than Skjei. We can agree to disagree but I feel I am right about that. I actually agree with you that there is absolutely no way Skjei gets you Meier. Nor will the Sharks take another defenseman with an AAV of 5mill +. However, do not disparage Skjei for sloppy play just yet. Remember he is only 25 years old on a rebuilding team with a ton of potential.

When you're getting paid to be a first pairing defenseman, being scratched 3 times is a big deal when it's because of poor play. I'm also not saying Pionk was great, but the times I watched (i didn't watch every game obviously) Pionk was the better overall defenseman. But being scratched multiple times last season combined with once this year is sort of a big deal. Now, yes he is 25 and will hopefully grow to be better and I'm pulling for him to be, but there is reason to be concerned.
