Zona already has 81m tied up next year. That won’t happen. Backes also has an NTC.

Krug is not getting moved in season. So if the trade took place in the offseason they would trading his negotiating rights, would not get that kind of return. Would not be Habs either.

Most B’s fans think Grizz will get between 5 and 6m. I think it’s more like 4.

Keyser not ready for NHL. They’d have to get a backup and they are not cheaping out. They learned their lesson with Gustafsson.

Details. I'll save the arguments over them.
I think I've shown it'd be workable, as long as you can convince Backes to waive his NTC.
And if he won't, simply trade Chabot's or Barzal's rights for a huge return.

Whatever.

I doubt it; but I don't think any of them are making more than $1m. Assign whatever salary you like within that range.

In the end - Debrusk pick was just fine. Zboril was just as highly rated actually more so than Chabot on draft day. Chabot was offense first with serious deficiencies on D. Zboril was a shut down guy with limited offense. They had krug so zboril made more sense. Got off to a slow start as a pro but is NHL ready, just no room for him. Seny was the only bad pick. Was pissed when the made the pick....still am.

Everything post those 3 picks changes and is an unknown. No McAvoy, Carlo, take away the Coyle trade. Also, no guarentee those guys develop the same way here

Why do you assume no McAvoy or Carlo then? Either way they drafted a defenseman in the 1st round, and Chabot wasn't a sure thing when 2016 draft rolled around.
Replacing Coyle with Donato isn't really a massive adjustment.

They still draft Carlo in the 2nd, that happened the same year.

But where are they in the standings the next few years with Barzal/Conner/Chabot?

Mac is likely gone by the time they pick. And that’s worse for B’s than not having Barzal.

You change every teams draft board with those 3 picks. Maybe Carlo goes 1st round now. Following season ever shift, game, outcome is different. Maybe Boston isn't high enough to pick McAvoy in 2016 because of the 3 picks you changed. What if Barzal doesnt flourish in Boston because he's put into a lesser role and asked to play a more two-way game.

That's why these hindsight 20/20 things are pointless, because your assuming nothing else changes. In reality is a giant rabbit hole. For all we know Boston makes those picks and sucks the following year allowing them to draft Matthews....or maybe they win it all

Lastly Coyle for Donato is actually pretty big. Donato has been a pretty big disappointment this year to the point where he's seeing little TOI.
