ok I'm not going to comment on dach vs Turcotte simply because I don't know enough about these guys. I do know they're both excellent young centers who went high in the draft, but all that I'd question in a one on one trade is the fact that they could have taken him at 3rd over dach. because they didn't, that leads me to believe that they saw something in him and won't trade down a few games into the season, at a point where neither player has really had the time to be very disappointing thus far.
Oh absolutely right! I completely agree that it’s too early. However, I will that this is just what I would do. Dach was a huge stretch and risk for the team to take. A lot of people in Chicago believe bowman only picked him because he actually nhl ready right away. My problem is that Dach is very slow and extremely lazy. He is decent with his positioning in his own zone, but other times he’s just too slow to get from spot to spot. Also, as a center, his faceoffs are AWFUL!!! I hope he cleans this stuff up, but I still hate that we took him.
Turcotte, on the hand, is everything a modern NHL encapsulates. He’s fast, has great vision, can pass, shoot, and is very aggressive. A great two way forward as well. I completely support his choice to go to college as I believe that is hugely important for the future development.
Essentially, we already had a Dach in Dylan strome. We would have been smarter to get the faster, more reliable turcotte. His ceiling is way higher and he never stops working. I don’t have much faith in Dach mainly because big, slow guys in the faster modern nhl are just frustrating to watch. Dach constantly looks like he needs others to control play for him, and he’s the center. I’ve admitted many times that I know I’m petty on Dach, but I don’t like that this guy May end up being our center for years to come when needs others to make himself better.
