Big what if is San Jose actually wants to rebuild from this point saying its a lost cause. It also depends on what the salary cap moves up to, and if Dubas would be sold on getting rid of Bracco, and Sandin for a guy of Karlsson's caliber. I think it would be good, but it also could produce some problems like Karlsson can't play as good of defense as other guys can such as getting a more defensive minded guy like Parayko, or even Pesce.

Right now, probably. In the future, not a chance. I think it's a risk, but a risk worth taking considering the Offense is already built well, and with Andersen I don't think Karlsson will fault on the squad especially having a pairing with Rielly.

I honestly think most teams would pass on Karlsson if he was put on waivers right now

Prime example of why it would be more of a risk later on. I think a change of scenery would help. It has worked for a lot of players. I think Karlsson established a little bit of what he could bring last year, but now I just think he doesn't fit in that team mold at all. He isn't the type of Defenseman they were actually looking for, but I think a team sort of like Toronto, or even Florida could probably use him in a great way. Change of Scenery is all I am suggesting for him cuz it doesn't seem like it worked well in San Jose.

Toronto needs a defensive defenseman. I get that a change of scenery may be good for Karlsson but no team is touching that contract. 11.5 mill for a soon to be 30 year old is insane

Maybe not all that tho. He had some defensive game last year before he went down. So I have no doubt he could bring it back if he did end up getting sold on the role by Babcock.

This would have to go down as one of the worst trades in Maple Leafs History with the trading of Sandin and all the draft picks on top of Nylander. Leafs have no interest in Karlsson who has alot of baggage and seems to be always injured.

Not only does this risk make zero sense, EK is not the type of defender the Leafs need. They need a solid shut down guy, not more offense. EK defensively is going to give up a lot while offensively he adds a lot but offense isn't the leafs problem. Furthermore, playing EK next to RIielly would be huge mistake...you don't want two offensive D guys on the same pairing...ideally you have one offensive D guy and one stay at home D guy.

Pesce would be a huge grab but the cost to get Pesce isn't going to be a pill the Leafs will want to swallow as both teams are in a win now mode so Kappy and a bunch of prospects isn't going to cut it. It would have to start with Nylander and more to get Pesce.

Pesce... Karlsson... this is an overpay for any Dman in the league. Nylander sandin and 2 firsts a 2nd and a 3rd with ceci and Bracco? This is an overpay if Mcdavid is coming back....
