And even that is just better because it's more likely they scratch a healthy Kovy than a healthy Staal.

This is a no for the Rangers for a multitude of reasons:

1. The Rangers have no interest in Kovy.
2. Cap implications: if the Rangers trade Beleskey, they end up with the $1.9M that Boston retained in the original trade.
3. As others pointed out, even when he's healthy, Staal is not going to waive his NMC to go play for an rebuilding team--lessening his chances further at winning a Stanley Cup during his career.
4. I sincerely doubt the Kings would retain any of Kovy's salary to move him. They may have to force him to go back to the KHL or retire first.
