I think Karlsson is untouchable for 30 NHL teams, and the sharks are the only one not on that list.

That’s fair, i just don’t think anyone wants Karlsson. If he was put on waivers tomorrow, I think there’s a pretty good chance he goes unclaimed.

I think that’s an exaggeration. It’s a hard sell obviously like most big money contracts. For example I wouldn’t want Marner on the sharks with his current contract but that doesn’t mean he’s useless. Karlsson played very well last night. If he can put together a similar game for the next few weeks before Christmas I’d say he’s turned around and back in form.

I do agree that Karlsson is almost untradable/ moveable

Marner is 21? 22? Not yet in his prime and signed for a bit of an overpay for 6 years. He’ll be solidly in his prime at the end of that contract, with the cap far higher. Tons of value. Karlsson is showing significant signs of decline, turns 30 in a few months, and has 8 more years at 11.5 on his deal. Negative value. Think about what would happen if he was on waivers. The good teams that could use what he brings to the table right now wouldn’t have the cap space to just throw 11.5 in there. The few teams that have that kind of room have to know that by the time they’re ready to contend, he will probably be a disaster. The only team he could make sense with is Seattle.

I didn’t say marner has no value. I said I wouldn’t want him on the sharks as yes a RW would be nice but defensive play has been a problem for our team. And we’d have no cap space unless we lost Vlasic or Karlsson if we’re using him as an example

Marner isn’t the solution for the sharks therefore he’s not needed is what I’m saying. Karlsson most likely would be picked up and I would guarantee it/ bet money. Marner has more value but Karlsson doesn’t have no value is what I’m saying and he would be picked up

Might i remind you what website you’re on. Think about it for a moment. First think about what teams could claim him. Then think about which of those teams would want an 8 year commitment to an aging player.

I have thoughts on it but this is all ifs ands and buts. If I said - Columbus - who Realistically could, there’s obviously glaring reasons why they wouldn’t. But we don’t know unless he is waived or there’s talks. Which both aren’t happening nor going to happen. No one thought the sharks would get Karlsson; until the day of give or take them it became real loud that the sharks had a legit chance. So I’m just saying you never know and we can’t say “this WONT happen”

Remind me where I said, “this won’t happen.” The whole thing is hypothetical because Karlsson has a no movement clause so i don’t think they could waive him. I said, “i think there’s a pretty good chance he goes unclaimed.” On what planet does that equate to, “this WON’T happen.”

If you really can’t understand why i thought you were insinuating that i was saying “this won’t happen,” when you quoted me and said, “we can’t say ‘this WONT happen,” then I think you should give your head a shake and take a lap.

Isn't SJ typically one of the oldest teams in the league? As such, I'll send you:

Letang, J.Johnson and Hornqvist for Meier
- or -
Oshie and Hagelin for Meier
