I get the sense, that at least at the moment, neither the player, or the club, is interested in an extension. I don't see the Leafs as being happy, or even content, with how Barrie has worked out so far. And I don't see the player happy with how he's been used in the line up (especially no top unit pp time), or how the media has treated him amidst the worst goal slump of his career. Obviously, there is time for things to change, but considering an extension will likely cost at least $8 million AAV a year, I just don't think the Leafs could afford it unless they deal Nylander.
