Dramatic but bad for the Canes. Pesce is not moving for Nylander and Haula has been terrific...

I don't think there is any chance that Toronto trades Nylander at this point, especially with Marner being out for a while. If they were to want Pesce it would probably look more like Kap plus Liljegren with whatever compensation is necessary otherwise in picks going either way

Dramatic? What’s dramatic about this conversation:
Hey, wanna make this trade?

Uhhh, no, not on your life!

Oh, okay. Sorry.

just curious, why would flyers trade to Toronto for Elliot, flyers wont have a back up and they are trying to make the playoffs too, same amount of points as leafs?

Trading Pesce opens a big hole in the defense. No chance he’s dealt. They moved Faulk instead. TVR and Fleury are the available defenders. When it was discussed this off-season it was Pesce for Nylander and no one really knows which side was opposed or if they both were.

Would you break up

Slavin/Hamilton
Gardiner/Pesce

Neither would I...zero chance....teams trying to win now wouldn’t.

Instead of stopping, this one just intensified the delusion. Glorious stuff.

The reason the Leafs would be after Pesce is exactly the reason Carolina won’t move him. He’s a great partner for a more offensive minded defender like Reilly. Pesce provides that for Gardiner and Slavin does for Hamilton. When you need to protect a lead you pair Pesce with Slavin. His value is enormous to Carolina before you even look at his contract.

I wouldn't call any of that dramatic. And in so many ways, this very much depend on how the Canes value scoring over a stable defensive unit (which Pesce provides). I think it's a good trade for both clubs. I also think that if there was a way to supplement Ceci, even for Barrie, I would do it. Ceci, based on the role he has been given, has been pretty good. If he were to move onto Muzzin's right side, that could then a be solid 2 defensive units. As for the Flyers trade, I like Elliot, but so does the Flyers, especially as a sort of mentor to Carter Hart. Unless the deal blows them out of the water, I don't see them trading him away.
