Would imagine that PHI wants some future assets for Voracek, not just two pending UFAs and a random prospect...

A younger top 6 forward, prospect, pick is exactly the type of return we typically see in these kind of deals. You can debate the prospect and change it to whomever you'd rather want, but this is a pretty standard trade. Granlund is a free agent after this season, but they can decide if they want to sign, flip, or use that cap savings next year on some other forwards. And I'm not sure teams are lining up to trade for a 30 year old $8m winger with 5 more years on his contract.

And Braun for Smith is UFA for UFA -- NSH needs D and PHI needs offense.

Smith for Braun is a legit trade and good idea, but moves including a player with one year left and a player with several years left are quite rare.

Braun for a 3rd

For Voracek I’d want an RD prospect or forward prospect and pick(s). Futures if you will.
