Description
...not tonight at least, he looked very solid :)

Other notes, Nylander is not fitting on the top line...he and Toews are oil and water for whatever reason. Move Nylander down to 3rd line and give Kubalik a look on the top line...he, Toews and Saad all play very similar types of games. Second line is clicking and one of the best lines in the league...leave it alone. Carpenter continues to be the best contract value on the team, he's huge value to have the 4th line. Smith looked good tonight and rotating him in and out versus every game seems to work better for him. Caggs is in concussion protocol so Smith will likely see ice on Saturday versus Nashville...let's hope he can string together 2 good games.

Kamp, Shaw and Kubalik isn't working. Again, switch Kubalik and Nylander. Another alternative, which was tried at the end, Nylander - Kampf - Kubalik, but not sure that works without much experience on that line.

De Haan, amazing night...he was unreal. Keith again looked good. Gus was very solid. Maata looked to be struggling a bit and Seabs plays position well but is slow.

Crow stood on his freaking head! Crow and Lehner is hands down the best goalie tandem in the league...there's no argument right now.

Now, when Murphy comes back in the next two or three games, Boqvist will be sent down to protect the ELC slide and Murphy likely paired with Keith...Murphy has been the best defender with De Haan a close second. Move Koekko, he has value and a serviceable 3rd pairing and is wasted in the pressbox, but bring up Gilbert or Holm to give them a shot. I think Holm, being on a 1 year deal, needs to get a shot as he was impressive in the preseason and has looked good in Rockford. Gilbert is definitely serviceable as a 3rd pairing and IMO equal to Koekko with more upside. Explore options and rest either Seabs or Maatta for a couple games...nothing wrong with rotating for matchup reasons.

Very solid for an 18 year old kid. Seems to be grabbing the speed of the game well. Still a little clumsy with this body being 6'4" but only weighing 196lbs...put another 10lbs of muscle on this kid and he's going be a lot tougher to play against.

Alright alright alright.......

Even I have to admit he did much better. Also, I have to say, kudos to JC for letting the hawks play more run and gun offense. It actually seems like it’s getting the best out of the team. Unfortunately, the one big criticism i have for the team is the inability to stop shots. Crow and Lehner can’t keep getting shelled like this. They’re a fantastic tandem, but even the best goalies have a bend until they break point.

Otherwise, really enjoyed the game and I’m loving how JC is actually allowing the players to use their freakin speed.

On a side note, maybe this is just me, but I’m starting to dislike Shaw all over again.........

Missed a large chunk of the game so I appreciate this overview.

Totally agree on Kubalik, dude should be on the top line with Saad and Toews.Nylander was working really well in the bottom six anyway, keep him there a bit longer

Good Post. I only got to see highlights. I guess I'm just too old to stay up for those west coast games these days. Can't pile on to @HatterTparty right now. JK Cheers From what I have actually see of Nylander/Toews...I agree with ChiHawks' comments. When are we finally going to see Saad/Toews/Kubalik? I think we've been asking this questions since game 2. Send Nylander to the 3rd line. it's no shame. He's a legit NHLer this year and he's actually found more success with the bottom six than top six anyway. Sometimes I feel like it's too easy a decision and JC gets into his own head. Also agree on the defense letting up too many shots, but it's been that way for years.

I hate to say it, but Shaw is really bringing this team down. I love the guy and I'm happy (for the locker room's sake) that he's back, but he needs to play better. Send him to the 4th line until he proves he should be back up.

Lines I want to see:
Saad - Toews - Dach
DeBrincat - Strome - Kane
Nylander/Caggiula - Kampf - Kubalik
Smith - Carpenter - Shaw

why not?

Saad - Toews - Kubalik
Debrincat - Strome - Kane
Cags - Kamps - Nylander
Shaw - Carp - Dach

If young rookies like Nylander and Dach seem to be getting traction in the bottom six...isn't that a jackpot? Come playoff time every team is looking for bottom 6 scoring.
