Its not these stats. You're looking at the wrong things for Risto. Try looking at his goals for percentage or failed zone exits. Hell even his corsi is like 45%. He is a negative in almost every advanced stat that analyzes how players play.

TOI does not equate to good. Some Sabres fans really don't get this when it comes to Risto. When it's suggested that Risto be traded, the Risto stans come out and are all about "but muh hits" and "but muh minutes". and that stuff just does not matter as much as offense zone possession and shots for and against. Give Risto and McCabes minutes to Dahlin, Montour, Pilut, and Jokiharju and watch this team win a bunch more games. Seriously. Do it. You could replace Risto with Casey Nelson straight up and this team would be worlds better for it.

If TOI was the defining factor in a player being good, Cody Ceci would be the best D on the planet. I don't watch the Sabres on a nightly basis. But, from what I've heard, is that Risto is poor in the defensive zone coverage aspect. Last time I checked, that's not a great thing to be known for...
