What's the point of trading one UFA for another? Markstrom is more valuable when a team needs him than Barrie.

Ah yes-Dig a bigger hole on the RH side of your D to bring in a goalie to play 30 or so games.

I guess this post is only for people with eyes, eyes that see how bad Barrie is in this lineup

tears of joy I don't know if you guys can do better than Babs, but he sure does seem to like to put people in situations that they aren't suited for, instead of using them in situations where they've flourished in the past.

This trade doesn't make your team better.

This is the only reason not to do this deal. I understand Barrie has not racked up the points everyone was expecting him to but to make a move now?

Dunno...not sure this makes sense.

For sure. And I absolutely get the idea behind taking a swing at Markstrom to give the Leafs a little comfort behind Freddie, but you don't fix an issue by digging one hole to fill another.

I dunno man. Honestly, this roster has been mismanaged by Babcock in many people's eyes, mine included.
Refusing to play the backup goalie in the first night of a back-to-back, not playing Barrie and Rielly together on the power play especially in how it's struggled...

These are just two things off the top of my head I can point to and say "mismanaged and Babcock doesn't seem willing to change".

How can anyone know how good this team is if players are not being used right and on top of it, they lose games.

You don't know much about the Canucks then.

Our defense has been the strong point of the team. Barrie would completely throw a wrench in that. Goaltending has also been a staple, and moving Markstrom would throw that off as well. Barrie would be on our bottom pair right now with how well Edler - Myers has been playing and the fact that he won't play with Hughes.

I still think something around Stetcher for Kapanen makes the most sense for these two teams.

EDIT: You yourself said that Barrie has been bad. Why would the Canucks want him then?

I agree with you. I guess Tanev would be traded.

Backup goalie first night is a management/analytic decision. Its been said that many times and people still love to blame babs
